Lee Friedlander, fotógrafo y artista estadounidense nacido en 1934. En los '60 y los '70 trabajó principalmente con cámaras de 35 mm. y película en blanco y negro, y fue evolucionando a un influyente y a menudo imitado lenguaje visual de "paisaje social", incluyendo en muchas de sus fotografías fragmentos de reflejos en vidrieras, estructuras enmarcadas en ventanas, posters y señales de las calles.

Charles Sheeler, pintor y fotógrafo comercial estadounidense nacido en 1883. Es reconocido por ser uno de los fundadores del modernismo en Estados Unidos, y uno de los maestros de la fotografía en el s.XX.
Asistió a la Escuela de Arte Industrial en Pannsylvania (actualmente Universidad de las Artes), entre 1900 y 1903, y luego a la Academia de Bellas Artes de Pennsylvania, donde estudió con William Merritt Chase. Alcanzó un temprano éxito como pintor, y expuso en la Galería Macbeth en 1908. Al año siguiente marchó a París, justo cuando despegaba la popularidad del cubismo. Fue parte del movimiento de la fotografía directa, que destacó la importancia de las fotografías no manipuladas, ni en cuanto al tema ni en el proceso. También le disgustaba la obra de los pictorialistas, que ganaron mucha popularidad durante una gran parte de su carrera.
A lo largo de su carrera, la fotografía de Abbott fue en gran medida una pantalla del auge y desarrollo de la tecnología y la sociedad. Su obra documenta y elogia el paisaje neoyorquino. Chase Jarvis, fotógrafo profesional, director, artista y empresario estadounidense nacido en 1971.
En 1994, Jarvis se mudó a Steamboat Springs, Colorado, con su novia, y allí comenzó a hacer fotografías de deportistas de snowboard y esquiadores.

On July 14 is the birthday of
Lee Friedlander, American photographer and artist born in 1934. In the 1960s and 70s, working primarily with 35mm cameras and black and white film, Friedlander evolved an influential and often imitated visual language of urban "social landscape," with many of his photographs including fragments of store-front reflections, structures framed by fences, posters and street signs.
Friedlander studied photography at the Art Center College of Design located in Pasadena, California. In 1956, he moved to New York City where he photographed jazz musicians for record covers.
Friedlander now works primarily with medium format cameras (e.g. Hasselblad Superwide).
He was awarded The Royal Photographic Society's Special 150th Anniversary Medal and Honorary Fellowship (HonFRPS) in recognition of a sustained, significant contribution to the art of photography in 2003. In 2005, the Museum of Modern Art presented a major retrospective of Friedlander's career, including nearly 400 photographs from the 1950s to the present.
On July 15 is the birthday of

In 1985, Ruef went to New York, where he obtained a diploma (1986) in photojournalism at the International Center of Photography (ICP). Since returning to Switzerland in 1987, Ruef started to work as a freelance documentary photographer and photojournalist and has visited all five continents, with a preference for Africa. He has worked on various stories on the human condition in black & white and color.
Since 1991, he has also been involved in a personal project worldwide on the relationship between Man and Waste. He has shot twenty photo essays and has finally published in 2011 the book Recycle.

Charles Sheeler, American painter and commercial photographer born in 1883. He is recognized as one of the founders of American modernism and one of the master photographers of the 20th century
He attended the Pennsylvania Museum School of Industrial Art, now the University of the Arts (Philadelphia), from 1900 to 1903, and then the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, where he studied under William Merritt Chase. He found early success as a painter and exhibited at the Macbeth Gallery in 1908. In 1909, he went to Paris, just when the popularity of Cubism was skyrocketing. Returning to the United States, he realized that he would not be able to make a living with Modernist painting. Instead, he took up commercial photography, focusing particularly on architectural subjects. He was a self-taught photographer. He died in 1965.

Berenice (Bernice) Abbott, American photographer born in 1898.
Abbott was part of the straight photography movement, which stressed the importance of photographs being unmanipulated in both subject matter and developing processes. She also disliked the work of pictorialists who had gained much popularity during a substantial span of her own career.
Throughout her career, Abbott's photography was very much a display of the rise in development in technology and society. Her works documented and praised the New York landscape. This was all guided by her belief that a modern day invention such as the camera deserved to document the 20th century. of New York City architecture and urban design of the 1930s.
On July 18 is the birthday of
Chase Jarvis, American professional photographer, director, artist, and entrepreneur born in 1971.
In 1994, Jarvis moved to Steamboat Springs, Colorado with his girlfriend, where he began shooting photos of pro snowboarders and skiers.
Jarvis continued to pursue photography while studying Philosophy and Art at the University of Washington's MA/PhD program. One year before completing his Master's degree, Jarvis licensed a batch of his photos to REI that allowed him to leave academia and open his own studio, Chase Jarvis Photography.
On July 19 is the birthday of

He was educated at Emanuel School, and King's College London, where he trained as a civil engineer. He helped his father Emidio Recchioni with propaganda work against Benito Mussolini, was arrested in Paris in January 1935 and extradited from France. In 1936, he published in collaboration with Camillo Berneri, a bilingual anarchist and antifascist, the paper Italia Libera/Free Italy.
He was a personal friend and official photographer of George Orwell and a close friend of fellow Anarchist writer, Colin Ward.
He died in 2001.
Today, July 20, is the birthday of
László Moholy-Nagy, Hungarian painter and photographer as well as professor in the Bauhaus school born in 1895. He was highly influenced by constructivism and a strong advocate of the integration of technology and industry into the arts.
In 1923, Moholy-Nagy replaced Johannes Itten as the instructor of the foundation course at the Bauhaus. This effectively marked the end of the school’s expressionistic leanings and moved it closer towards its original aims as a school of design and industrial integration.
Throughout his career, he became proficient and innovative in the fields of photography, typography, sculpture, painting, printmaking, and industrial design.
He died in 1946.
