Cristian Girotto nació en Italia y actualmente reside en París. Dedicado al retoque fotográfico de alta calidad, se ha dado a conocer ampliamente en la red gracias al proyecto conjunto desarrollado con el fotógrafo Quentin Curtat, "L'Enfant Extérieur", un ejercicio de imaginación y fotomanipulación sobre la posibilidad de sacar a la luz el niño que todos llevamos dentro.

Sin entrar en Jung y su "Puer Aeternus" o en Pascoli con su "Little Boy", podemos sin duda estar de acuerdo en que, en algún lugar dentro de cada uno de nosotros, hay un núcleo joven, instintivo y creativo, aunque también inocente e ingenuo. ¿Qué pasaría si esta esencia íntima se revelara por completo?

"L'Enfant Extérieur (El niño exterior)" se detiene en el análisis de ésta posibilidad, mostrándonos un mundo de hombres con forma de niños, como si el cuerpo pudiera deslizarse sobre la fealdad de la vida, imaginar grandes ojos de cervatillo parpadeantes en los night clubs o manitas regordetas temblorosas en las oficinas.

Un examen que comienza a partir de la dicotomía clásica forma/sustancia y que se interroga sobre la naturaleza de la pureza y la inevitabilidad de la corrupción, sin tomárselo demasiado en serio, porque al final, ya se sabe, a los niños les gusta jugar.

"Estudié gráfica y diseño, y luego comencé mi carrera profesional en Italia como Diseñador Gráfico, y luego como Director Artístico. Pero lo que más me gustaba era crear imágenes muy gráficas y limpias, así que decidí mudarme a París donde hay muchos fotógrafos y un negocio de la moda, y decidí volcar mi pasión por el Photoshop en mi trabajo principal."

"Con «L'Enfant exterieur» quise imaginar cómo sería si el niño que todos llevamos en nuestro interior literalmente pudiera manifestarse en nuestro exterior. Un fotógrafo y yo tomamos fotografías de gente y tras una enorme investigación observando niños y sus características, transformé esos adultos en algo nuevo. Sólo utilicé Photoshop y, por supuesto, mi imaginación, pero no puedo revelar mis secretos sobre el tema, destruiría la magia que conllevan esas imágenes."

Respecto a sus fotografías de «niños», comenta: "Para ser honesto, me gustan todas, especialmente porque creo que funcionan mejor cuando están en una serie. Te permite comprender mejor el concepto global. Si tuviera que elegir, diría que los barbudos: ¡ahí puedes ver que algo extraño ha sucedido"

Cristian Girotto was born in Italy and now is based in Paris. Dedicated to high quality photo retouching, his work has been widely disseminated on the net thanks to the joint project with photographer Quentin Curtat "L'Enfant Extérieur", an exercise in imagination and photomanipulation about the possibility of exposing the child all of us have inside.

Without bothering Jung and its "Puer aeternus" or Pascoli with its "Little Boy", we can certainly agree that, somewhere inside each of us, there's a young core, instinctive, creative but also innocent and naïve. What would happen if this intimate essence would be completely revealed?

L' Enfant Extérieur (The Outer Child) takes into analysis this possibility, showing us a world of men in the shape of children, as if the body could slip on the ugliness of life, less expected to imagine big fawn's eyes winking in the night clubs or little chubby hands shaking in the offices.

An examination that begins from the classical dichotomy shape-substance and that questions itself about the nature of purity and the unavoidability of the corruption, without taking itself too seriously, because in the end, you know, children like to play.

"I studied graphics and design, and then I started my professional career in Italy as graphic designer and after that as an art director. But what I liked the most was creating very graphical and very clean images, so I decided to move to Paris, where there’s a lot of photographers and a fashion business, and decided to turn my passion for Photoshop into my main job."

"With “L’Enfant Exterieur” I wanted to imagine how the inner child that lives inside of each of us could literally be manifested on our surface. A photographer and I took pictures of people and after huge research observing children and their features, I transformed those adults into something new. I only used Photoshop, and of course my imagination, but I can’t tell my secrets about it, it will kill the magic that goes with those images."

Talking about the images of his "L'Enfant Extérieur", Cristian said: "I must be honest, I like them all, especially since I think they work better when they are in a series. It allows you to understand the whole concept better. If I have to chose I’d say the beardy ones: there, you can see that something weird has happened!"

Takashi Akasaka, que firma sus obras como "Aka", es un muy buen acuarelista japonés nacido en Yokohama en 1953.

Según comenta en su sitio web, ha estado utilizando acuarelas opacas hasta 2006, cuando empezó a pintar con acuarelas transparentes.

Takashi se especializa en la pintura de paisajes, tanto de su Japón natal como de varias ciudades europeas, y sus trabajos demuestran grandes habilidades técnicas y un excelente manejo de la luz.

Takashi Akasaka, who sign his works as "Aka", is a very good Japanese watercolorist born in Yokohama in 1953.

As he wrote in his website, he has been using opaque watercolors until 2006, when he started painting transparency watercolor.

His work mainly focuses on landscapes from Japan and European cities. His watercolors reveal a great drawing skills and a perfect sense of light.

Since 2009 he has had private exhibitions in Yokohama and also in Kyoto.

Michael Taylor [Pintura]

Publicaré dos posts dedicados a este notable artista británico. En este primero, una selección de sus trabajos agrupados bajo "Figuras", "Interiores" y "Cabezas". Para el próximo, una muestra de sus Retratos y Bodegones.

"Autorretrato, A la memoria de mi padre / Self Portrait In Memory of my Father"

Michael Taylor es un extraordinario pintor británico nacido en Sussex en 1952. Estudió en las Escuelas de Arte Worthing y Goldsmith entre 1969 y 1973, y ha presentado varias exposiciones en solitario desde 1983. Es una presencia frecuente en las exhibiciones de verano. Sus obras cuelgan en la National Portrait Gallery, así como en numerosas colecciones privadas.

"Es muy importante para mí pintar del natural. Pienso en la interacción entre dos personas y la forma en que la pintura al óleo es capaz de responder a esas inflexiones a medida que pintas; la menor respuesta nerviosa puede ser registrada por la mano y así la pintura al óleo establece esas mínimas inflexiones que no cambian, permanecen exactamente tal cual. Trabajando así, del natural, estás tratando con las auténticas respuestas nerviosas del modelo y de hecho esas respuestas quedan atrapadas como una mosca en ámbar en una pintura, y pueden extraerse cientos de años más tarde con sólo pararse frente al retrato. En verdad es un misterio maravilloso."

La mayoría de las pinturas de Michael son composiciones figurativas basadas en contenidos narrativos desarrollados a partir de sus propias ideas.

"El punto de inicio puede ser cualquier cosa - dice -. Por ejemplo, puede ser la expresión en el rostro de alguien, un objeto interesante o una calidad de luz especial. Tiendo a dejar que la idea repose un poco y luego busco un modelo, generalmente alguien que conozca. Desde los dibujos iniciales que hago del modelo y posterior secuencia de pequeños bocetos, voy definiendo gradualmente el contenido y la composición de lo que quiero pintar."

"Pintando en mi estudio del ático, estas composiciones de figuras a veces incorporan objetos y aspectos familiares del retratado. Prefiero un contenido tan ambiguo como sea posible. Desde mi punto de vista, todo arte realmente exitoso incluye un gran componente de ambigüedad, que da al observador la oportunidad de ser imaginativo y creativo. Creo que si puedes involucrar al espectador para que saque sus propias conclusiones de la pintura, habrás alcanzado algo que vale la pena."

Michael suele trabajar una media de tres meses para completar cada obra.

"Como trabaja lentamente y concentrándose en una pintura a la vez, sus obras marcan el pasaje del tiempo en sí mismas, y son un registro de los cambios infinitesimales en el propio artista que es, como todos nosotros, sujeto de cambio y decadencia. Más aún, las pinturas no registran simplemente lo que se ve, sino también lo que puede verse con el ojo interior. Representan pensamientos y sentimientos que no son visibles... Las pinturas de Taylor no son para un espectador fugaz. Son para individuos preparados para dejarlas entrar en su torrente sanguíneo, aquellos que retornarán una y otra vez para saborear la cualidad de liberación lenta de estas notables pinturas."

Michael Taylor was born in Sussex in 1952 and studied at the Worthing School of Art (1969-70) and Goldsmiths School of Art (1970-73). He has held several solo exhibitions since 1983. He also regularly shows in the Royal Academy Summer exhibition. He has undertaken a number of portrait commissions, including Bishop Rogers, Bishop of Oxford, John Roberts, Vice-Chancellor of Southampton University and Professor Brink of Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge.

"It is very important to me to paint from life. I think the interaction between two people and the way that oil paint has the unique ability to respond to those inflections as you’re painting, the slightest nervous response can be registered by the hand and then the oil paint sets and it sets those little inflections in, it doesn’t change, it remains exactly the same. So working from life you’re dealing with a very direct nervous response to the sitter and indeed that response is being set like a fly in amber in the paint and it can be extracted hundreds of years later just by standing in front of the portrait, it’s a wonderful mystery really."

The majority of Michael's paintings are figure compositions based on a narrative content developed from one of his own ideas.

"The starting point could be anything," he says. "For instance, it might be the expression on someone's face, an interesting object, or a special quality of light. I tend to let the idea simmer for a while and then I'll look for a model - usually someone I know. From the initial drawings I make from the model and the subsequent sequence of small sketches, I gradually define the content and composition that I want for the painting."

"Tres figuras con cuervos / Three Figures with Crows"

"Painted in my attic studio, these figure compositions often incorporate objects and aspects familiar to that setting. I prefer the content to be as ambiguous as possible. In my view, all the really successful art includes a large element of ambiguity, which in turn gives the viewer the opportunity to be imaginative and creative. I think that if you can involve the viewer and allow them to draw their own conclusions from the painting, then you have achieved something worthwhile."

Michael usually work an average of three months to complete each work.

"Because he works slowly and concentratedly on a single picture at a time, the paintings mark the passage of time within themselves and are a record of the infinitesimal changes in the artist himself who is, as are we all, subject to change and decay. Moreover the paintings do not simply record what is seen, but also what might be seen with the inner eye. They represent thoughts and feelings that are not visible ..... Taylor's paintings are not for the ten second viewer. They are for the individual who is prepared to let them enter his bloodstream, who will return again and again to savour the slow release quality of these remarkable paintings."
