Emily Lamb es una apasionada por la vida silvestre y la naturaleza en general. En este primer post, un vistazo a su obra pictórica. En el siguiente su gran pintura circular "Dentro de un mundo" y una selección de sus "Bocetos diarios para la vida silvestre".

Emily Lamb es una artista británica nacida en 1985.
Su pasión por el la naturaleza y la vida silvestre se fue gestando gracias a sus frecuentes viajes con su madre, directora de la Fundación de Vida Silvestre David Shepherd, para auditar diversas iniciativas conservacionistas. Con el paso de los años fue llenándose del espíritu y alma de África, hasta llegar a darse cuenta de que estaba enamorada del continente.
En el desarrollo de sus intereses artísticos y su amor por la vida silvestre tuvo mucho que ver su abuelo, el reconocido pintor de vida silvestre David Shepherd.

«Mi abuelo es la verdadera razón por la que he venido a vivir y trabajar en África. He pasado años explorando avenidas y caminos de diferentes méritos buscando un verdadero propósito para pintar y, sin embargo, en estos días es evidente aquello de "de tal palo, tal astilla", como dicen. Mi corazón late más rápido y más fuerte cuando estoy en los espacios más salvajes, con la gente más salvaje, con los animales más salvajes. Y quiero luchar por esa libertad. Por mí misma, por los pulmones de nuestro planeta, y por el espíritu de mi abuelo.»

Emily utiliza una técnica expresiva con un uso audaz del color y del medio. Se inspira en la naturaleza y en sus extensos viajes, especialmente a África. Es una apasionada de la conservación y del arte, y trabaja duro para continuar el legado de su abuelo. Además de ser miembro activo de la junta directiva y defensora del Programa de Arte para la Supervivencia de la Fundación de Vida Silvestre David Shepherd, ha estado involucrada en varias otras iniciativas de conservación.
Recientemente su temática se ha expandido para incluir más estudios de la forma humana en movimiento.

«Mi estilo es algo que siempre me ha dado mucho trabajo explicar. Creo que es mejor dejar que otras personas decidan lo que piensan de mi obra y cómo les hace sentir. Intento traducir los lugares, la gente y las criaturas de África en un medio que pueda comunicar la belleza y la emoción que el continente evoca en mí. En la escuela me enseñaron a dibujar y a considerar los métodos clásicos de la pintura al óleo. Intento conscientemente romper esas reglas, pero también confío en las habilidades que he aprendido.»

Emily Lamb is a British artist born in 1985.
Her passion for nature and wildlife was sparked by her frequent travels with her mother (CEO of the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation at the time) to audit conservation initiatives. Over the years she became filled with the spirit and soul of Africa, until she realized she was in love with the continent.
Her grandfather, the renowned wildlife painter David Shepherd, had a lot to do with the development of her artistic interests and her love for wildlife.

«My Grandfather is the true reason I’ve come to live and work in Africa. I’ve spent years exploring avenues and pathways of different merit to seek out a true purpose to paint, and yet it’s in these days it’s now glaringly obvious i’m simply a ‘chip off the old block’, as they say. My heart beats fastest and hardest when i’m in the wildest spaces, with the wildest people, with the wildest animals. And I want to fight for that freedom. For myself, for the lungs of our planet, and my grandfather’s spirit.»

Emily uses an expressive technique with bold use of colour and medium. She takes inspiration from nature and her extensive travels, particularly to Africa. She is passionate about conservation as well as art, and works hard to continue the legacy of her grandfather. As well as being an active board member and advocate of the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation (DSWF) Art for Survival Programme, she has been involved with several other conservation initiatives.
Recently Emily's subject matter has expanded to include more studies of the human form in motion.

«My style is something I have always struggled to explain. I think it’s best to let other people decide what they think of my work and how it makes them feel. I’m trying to translate the places, people and creatures of Africa into a medium that can communicate the beauty and emotion that the continent evokes in me. I was taught at school to draft and consider classic methods of oil painting. I’m consciously trying to break down those rules, but I also trust the skills that I have learnt.»

«Muy a menudo, las artes simplemente se entrelazan en una... música, pintura, teatro... fotografía; todas se inspiran unas a otras. En este caso fue esta última la que me llamó la atención, y la obra de un fotógrafo muy dotado y amante de lo salvaje, David Lloyd. Le agradezco que me haya permitido plasmar en pintura su preciosa imagen... No hay nada como la energía de estas criaturas y el estar cerca de ellas en la naturaleza. Su hermosa energía en bruto... elemental en entrega y propósito. Me siento honrada de poder pasar tiempo en África cuando puedo, documentando y respirando el mismo espacio que estos magníficos animales. Fue la más bella fotografía e inspiración para mí, y por consiguiente, mi mayor reto hasta la fecha...»

«More than often the arts just roll into one... Music, painting , theatre.. Photography; All inspiring the other. In this case it was the latter that snatched my attention , and the work of a very gifted photographer and lover of the wild, David Lloyd,(@davidlloyd ). I thank him for allowing me to put into paint his precious image... X There is nothing quite like the energy of these creatures and being close to them in the wild. Their beautiful raw energy...elemental in delivery and purpose. I feel honoured to be able to spend time in Africa when I can, documenting and breathing the same space as these magnificent animals. It was the most beautiful photograph and inspiration to me, and was consequently, my biggest challenge to date...»
