Iniciamos esta décima temporada con los trabajos de la fotógrafa rusa Yulia Artemyeva, y su serie basada en el paralelismo morfológico entre flores y bailarinas, una analogía tratada más de una vez, pero que Yulia plasma con innegable belleza en esta colección de imágenes en blanco y negro. Echamos también un vistazo a algunos de sus otros proyectos fotográficos.
We begin this tenth season with the works of the Russian photographer Yulia Artemyeva, and her series based on the morphological parallelism between flowers and ballerinas, an analogy treated more than once, but which Yulia captures with undeniable beauty in this collection of black and white images. We also take a look at some of her other photographic projects.

Yulia Artemyeva es una artista de la fotografía nacida y criada en Rusia. Se licenció en Economía en 2006. En 2010 recibió una calificación en Fotografía Artística de la Academia de Colaboración Internacional de Moscú.
En 2015 recibió el título de Artista de Excelencia de la FIAP (EFIAP) de la Federación Internacional de Arte Fotográfico (FIAP, Francia).
Sus obras han sido expuestas en exposiciones colectivas en toda Europa, América del Norte y del Sur y Asia.

«Siempre me ha gustado dibujar y tenía un don para la creatividad. Tomé lecciones con una conocida artista (Elena Sukhoveeva), aunque mi trabajo estaba relacionado con la analítica en una gran empresa. Pero la vida altera nuestros planes, y a veces definitivamente a mejor. Mi complicado embarazo cambió mi vida. Tuve que dejar mi trabajo como economista por razones de salud. En ese momento mi marido me regaló mi primera cámara sencilla, y empecé a estudiarla y a tomar fotos. Desde entonces la fotografía me ha absorbido. Es mi pasión, mi amor, lo que me impulsa.»

«Antes de trabajar en el género de la investigación social, había recorrido un largo camino en el arte fotográfico, creando intencionadamente complicadas composiciones multicapa en Photoshop, y luego en fotografía callejera, incluyendo el uso de cámaras de cine.
La investigación social basada en la conexión inquebrantable entre el modelo y su entorno social natural, escenificada, pero con retoques mínimos y conscientes, se ha convertido en una especie de media dorada entre estos dos vectores.
Para mí la fotografía es una forma de investigar la psicología humana en su relación con el medio ambiente. Definiría mi área de trabajo como Retrato Socio-Psicológico.»

«A través de la fotografía me esfuerzo por encontrar un elemento de singularidad en lo cotidiano y lo familiar. Cada una de mis tomas se convierte en una caza fotográfica: estudiando los fenómenos de la vida cotidiana a través de la forma y el color, ofrezco mi propia interpretación, a veces en forma de abstracción, para lograr el reflejo más exacto del componente emocional de la realidad.
En mis proyectos fotográficos exploro el proceso de la interacción humana con el espacio. Me preocupa el tema del espacio que da lugar a la utopía, la ilusión y la quimera. En mis proyectos considero la realidad de estas ilusiones y fantasías, creando sus proyecciones en el espacio moderno.»

«La asimilación de una mujer a una flor es uno de los motivos tradicionales de la cultura europea y asiática. En este proyecto fotográfico este acercamiento se lleva a lo absoluto con la ayuda de la mímesis visual, una repetición casi literal de la forma de una flor con un gesto.
La elección de la bailarina como figura central de la sesión es metafísica: la feminidad como ideal sólo puede ser captada en la imaginación o en la encarnación artística. Al mismo tiempo, el campo conceptual de la feminidad es grande y ambiguo. La imagen de una bailarina puede interpretarse como una manifestación del mundo superior, cercana a un hada y a un genio, o puede ser erotizada y reducida. Sin embargo el uso icónico constante de dos imágenes tradicionales acerca la fotografía al lenguaje, como en la escritura jeroglífica, donde cada signo posterior aclara el anterior. Así pues cada par de fotos debe considerarse como un único mensaje, donde las asociaciones para una flor en este microorden visual cortan o aclaran algunos de los significados que surgen en la percepción del espectador en relación con cada una de las imágenes de la bailarina: su pose, sus gestos, la solución tonal de la foto, etc...»

«La femineidad irrumpe del mundo ideal al mundo físico en gesto, palabra, signo. Y si la cámara captura el gesto de la sacerdotisa-artista casi pasivamente, entonces la elección del ángulo para fotografiar la belleza natural para que se convierta en un artefacto requiere importantes esfuerzos heurísticos del artista-fotógrafo. El gesto de la bailarina, fugaz en la realidad, resulta ser tan duradero como el escorzo de una flor, que, sin la atención de la cámara, podría no ser detectado.»

Yulia Artemyeva is a photoartist born and raised in Russia. She completed a degree in Economics in 2006. In 2010, she was awarded a qualification in Art Photography by the Academy of International Collaboration in Moscow.
In 2015, she received the title of Excellence Artist of FIAP (EFIAP) from The International Federation of Photographic Art (FIAP, France).
Her works have been exhibited at group exhibitions throughout Europe, North and South America and Asia.

«I’ve always loved drawing and had a knack for creativity. I used to take lessons from a well-known artist (Elena Sukhoveeva), though my job was connected with analytics in a big company. But life alters our plans, and sometimes definitely to the better. My complicated pregnancy changed my life. I had to leave my job as an economist because of health reasons. At that moment my husband gave me my first simple camera, and I started to study it and take photos. Since then I’ve been swallowed up by photography. It’s my passion, my love, my drive.»

«Before I came to work in the genre of social investigation, I had gone a huge way in Photographic Art, intentionally creating complicated multi-layer compositions in Photoshop, then in Street Photography, including using film cameras.
Social investigation based on the unbreakable connection between the model and his or her natural social environment, staged but with minimal, conscious retouching, has become a sort of golden mean between these two vectors.
Now to me, Photography is a way of investigating human psychology in its relation to living environment. I would define my area of work as Socio-Psychological Portraiture.»

«Through photography, I strive to find an element of uniqueness in the everyday and the familiar. Each of my shooting turns into a photo hunt: studying the phenomena of everyday life through form and color, I offer my own interpretation, sometimes in the form of an abstraction, for the most accurate reflection of the emotional component of reality.
In my photo projects, I explore the process of human interaction with space. I am concerned with the theme of the place that gave rise to utopia, illusion and chimera. In my projects, I consider the reality of these illusions and fantasies, creating their projections in modern space.»

«Assimilation of a woman to a flower is one of the traditional motives of both European and Asian culture. In this photo project, this rapprochement is brought to the absolute with the help of visual mimesis, an almost literal repetition of the shape of a flower with a gesture.
The choice of the ballerina as the central figure of the shooting is metaphysical: femininity as an ideal can only be captured in imagination or artistic embodiment. At the same time, the conceptual field of femininity is large and ambiguous. The image of a dancer can be interpreted as a manifestation of the higher world, close to a fairy and a genius, or it can be eroticized and reduced. However, the consistent iconic use of two traditional images brings photography closer to language, hieroglyphic writing, where each subsequent sign clarifies the previous one. So, each pair of photos should be considered as a single message, where associations for a flower in this visual micro-order cut off or clarify some of the meanings that arise in the viewer's perception in connection with each of the ballerina's images: her pose, gestures, tonal solution of the photo, etc. ...»

«Femininity breaks out from the ideal world into the physical world in gesture, word, sign. And if the camera captures the gesture of the priestess-artist almost passively, then the choice of the angle for shooting natural beauty so that it turns into an artifact requires significant heuristic efforts from the artist-photographer. The ballerina's gesture, fleeting in reality, turns out to be as durable as the foreshortening of a flower, which, without the attention of the camera, could have remained undetected.»
