Annliz Bonin, alias anXiogéne, artista francesa nacida en 1977, que vive y trabaja en Caen, Normandía.
Annliz realiza performances y fotografías, tanto por encargo como obra personal.

Sherif Sonbol (شريف سنبل), fotógrafo egipcio nacido en 1956, especializado en arquitectura, artes escénicas y periodismo gráfico.

Estudió seguros en la Universidad de El Cairo y asistió al Chartered Insurance Institute de Londres. Trabajó para la Egyptian Reinsurance Company hasta que fue testigo accidental de un rifirrafe entre el gerente de seguros de de la compañía y el jefe del sindicato. Atrapado en una delicada situación burocrática, Sonbol tuvo que testificar sobre el incidente, lo que significó el final de su carrera en la compañía. Como resultado decidió perseguir una de sus pasiones, la fotografía, y probó suerte en Al-Ahram, donde pronto comenzó a trabajar por cuenta propia. Sólo le tomó unos meses convertirse en fotógrafo a tiempo completo en Al-Ahram bajo los auspicios de Antoun Albert.

La embajada estadounidense lo incorporó a su departamento de informática como diseñador gráfico e insgtructor en informática para recién llegados.
Consiguió combinar estos roles con su trabajo en la nueva ópera de El Cairo, donde había estado tomando fotos desde que abrió sus puertas en 1988. Eventualmente Sonbol renunció a su puesto en la embajada estadounidense y volvió a Al-Ahram, esta vez al Al-Ahram Weekly.

Permaneció seis años como fotógrafo principal de Kalam-El-Nass. En su último año allí vio la luz el proyecto de la revista Maraya-El-Nass. Era una revista de diseño de interiores perteneciente al mismo grupo que Kalam-El-Nass. Los principales responsables artísticos del proyecto serían el escritor Moguib Rushdi y él mismo, por lo que fue totalmente transferido a la nueva revista. Aquí también logró "sacudir los cimientos de la fotografía interior egipcia con su uso de la luz natural".
Actualmente Sonbol combina sus responsabilidades como jefe de fotografía en Al-Ahram Weekly y en la Ópera de El Cairo con otros proyectos.

En su última exposición de fotografías, que ha recorrido varias ciudades y finalmente aterrizó en la Galería al-Ahram, Sonbol destaca un hecho básico: en Egipto todas las religiones gozan de gran respeto. In his latest photo exhibition, that has roamed several cities and finally landed in al-Ahram Gallery, Sonbol highlights the basic facts: in Egypt, all religions are highly respected. Being a true "Cairo crossroad of faith," as the name of the exhibition states, Egypt in general, and Cairo in particular, beholds the essence of compassion and acceptance which is deeply engraved on the walls of it's various houses of faith that sometimes share the same walls. "That is why I refused to put any name tags on any of my photos," added Sonbol, explaining that the first photograph that he showcases in the exhibition is one that most eyes mistake for a mosque. " If you look closer you would find over 200 crosses deeply engraved and Coptic verses written in Arabic, this is the Hanging Church ((690–92 A.D)"

Hans Finsler, fotógrafo alemán-suizo, representante de la Nueva Objetividad nacido en 1891 en Heilbronn, que a pesar de su formación artística se inició en la fotografía de modo autodidacta.
Entre 1911 y 1914 estudió Arquitectura en Stuttgart y Múnich, y de 1915 a 1919 Historia del Arte en Munich y Berlín. Algunos de sus profesores fueron Fritz Burger, Heinrich Wölfflin y Paul Frankl.
En 1922 se trasladó a Halle, donde se graduó en Publicidad, trabajó como bibliotecario y profesor, y se introdujo en la fotografía. En 1927 regresó a Berlín para realizar un voluntariado en la Sociedad de la Nueva Fotografía y poder profundizar en su aprendizaje fotográfico.

Tras su participación en una exposición en Stuttgart en 1928, con gran cantidad de obra de buena calidad, fue llamado para impartir clases en Zúrich en 1932. Cherie Roberts aka Kitana Jade, modelo y fotógrafa nacida en 1978 que trabajó con Playboy desde principios a mediados de los años 2000 y modeló para numerosas revistas y sitios web.
Se crió en San José, California. Era bailarina exótica en San Francisco cuando fue descubierta por una compañía local para modelar para un calendario de bikinis. En 2000 modeló para varias ediciones especiales de Playboy, y creó su propio sitio web que diseñó y mantuvo ella misma.
En 2001 se trasladó a Hollywood, después de haber sido coronada Miss Hot Import Nights 2001. Viajó con la compañía durante varios años por los EEUU, haciendo docenas de apariciones. Fue presentada en varios DVD de escenas de coches de importación y en el videojuego de carreras Street Racing Syndicate. Homai Vyarawalla tomó una serie de fotografías memorables durante su carrera. Su tema favorito era Jawaharlal Nehru, el primer primer ministro de la India.
La mayoría de sus fotografías fueron publicadas bajo el seudónimo "Dalda 13". Las razones por las que escogió este nombre son que su año de nacimiento fue 1913, conoció a su marido a los edad de 13 años y la matrícula de su primer coche era "DLD 13".

Ponomarev se graduó de la Universidad Estatal de Moscú y de la Academia de Trabajo y Relaciones Sociales. Es colaborador frecuente del New York Times. En 2015 este medio pidió a Ponomarev ir a Grecia y fotografiar los desembarcos de refugiados. Posteriormente siguió a los refugiados en su camino hacia Europa Occidental, empleando en total cinco meses en el proyecto.
Previamente cubrió la crisis de los rehenes del teatro de Moscú en 2002, el asedio a la escuela de Beslan en 2004, el Euromaidan en Kiev, la guerra en Donbass y la guerra civil siria.

On December 5 is the birthday of
Annliz Bonin, alias anXiogéne, French artist born in 1977, who lives and works in Caen, Normandy.

My work speaks of time, the traces left by its passage, the memory, the suspended moments.

On December 6 is the birthday of
Sherif Sonbol (شريف سنبل), Egyptian photographer born in 1956, specializing in architecture, scenic fine arts and photojournalism.
He studied insurance at Cairo University and attended the Chartered Insurance Institute in London. He worked for the Egyptian Reinsurance Company until he was the accidental witness of a riff-raff between the company's marine hull insurance manager and the chief of the syndicate. Caught up in a delicate bureaucratic situation, Sonbol was told testifying about the incident meant the end of his career in insurance. As a result, he decided to pursue one of his passions -photography- and tried his luck at Al-Ahram, where he soon started working as a freelancer.
It only took a few months for him to become a full-time photographer at Al-Ahram under the auspices of Antoun Albert.
The American Embassy incorporated him to its computer department as graphic designer and computer trainer for newcomers.
He managed to combine these roles with his work in the New Cairo Opera House, where he had been taking pictures since it opened its doors in 1988. Eventually Sonbol resigned his place at the American Embassy and returned to Al-Ahram; this time to the Al-Ahram Weekly.
He stayed six years as main photographer of Kalam-El-Nass. On his last year there, the Maraya-El-Nass magazine project saw the light. This was an interior design magazine belonging to the same group as Kalam-El-Nass. The project's key artistic responsibles were to be writer Moguib Rushdi and himself, so he was fully transferred to the new magazine. Here too he managed to "shake the foundations of Egyptian interior photography with his use of natural light".
Currently Sonbol manages to combine his responsibilities as chief photographer in Al-Ahram Weekly and in the Cairo Opera House with other projects.

Hans Finsler, German-Swiss photographer, representative of the New Objectivity, born in 1891 in Heilbronn, who despite his artistic training began in photography in a self-taught way.

In 2000, Roberts modeled for several Playboy Special Edition issues, and created her own website which she designed and maintained on her own. In 2001, Roberts moved to Hollywood after she was crowned Miss Hot Import Nights 2001. She toured with the company for several years, making dozens of appearances across the US. Roberts was featured in several import car scene DVDs and in the racing video game, Street Racing Syndicate. She was also one of the early adopters of social networking site, MySpace, where her page quickly became one of the most trafficked pages on the site, establishing Roberts as an early MySpace celebrity.
In 2005, she created a second website for her photography, and began actively shooting photography for Suicide Girls. Since then, she is best known for shooting glamour and nude photography for several companies, including gaming sites UGO.com and IGN.com, and alternative culture community site, EvilHearts.com. In addition to her glamour and nude photography, Roberts has also shot various celebrities and bands.
Roberts continues to pursue her photography career, write articles, and still maintains her websites.
On December 9 is the birthday of
Homai Vyarawalla, commonly known by her pseudonym "Dalda 13", was India's first woman photojournalist. First active in the late 1930s, she retired in the early 1970s. In 2011, she was awarded Padma Vibhushan, the second highest civilian award of the Republic of India.
She studied at the Bombay University and the Sir J. J. School of Art.
A Gandhian at heart, Vyarawalla imbibed the Mahatma's teachings in her everyday life. She followed a simple, spartan lifestyle, and lived in near-anonymity for years.
She started her career in 1930s and thereafter received notice at the national level when she moved to Mumbai in 1942 with her family, before moving to Delhi, where in the next thirty years she photographed many political and national leaders, including Gandhi, Nehru, Jinnah, Indira Gandhi and the Nehru-Gandhi family while working as a press photographer. At the onset of the World War II, she started working on assignments of the Bombay-based The Illustrated Weekly of India magazine which over the years till 1970, published many of her black and white images, which later became iconic. After the death of her husband she moved to Vadodara in 1973.
Homai Vyarawalla took a number of memorable photographs during her career. Her favourite subject was Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India.
Most of her photographs were published under the pseudonym "Dalda 13″. The reasons behind her choice of this rather amusing name were that her birth year was 1913, she met her husband at the age of 13 and her first car's number plate read "DLD 13″.
In 1970, shortly after her husband's death, Homai Vyarawalla decided to give up photography lamenting over the "bad behaviour" of the new generation of photographers. She did not take a single photograph in the last 40-plus years of her life. When asked why she quit photography while at the peak of her profession, she said
"It was not worth it any more. We had rules for photographers; we even followed a dress code. We treated each other with respect, like colleagues. But then, things changed for the worst. They [the new generation of photographers] were only interested in making a few quick bucks; I didn't want to be part of the crowd anymore."
She died in 2012.
On December 10 is the birthday of
David Uzochukwu, fine art photographer from Brussels, Belgium, born in 1998.
Uzochukwu's photography has been published around the world, including spotlights from Flickr, EyeEm, Huffington Post, My Modern Metropolis, and Refinery29, among others. In 2014, he was named the EyeEm Photographer of the Year and one of Flickr's 20under20. He was also among the few selected for Adobe Photoshop's 25 Under 25 in 2015.
He is represented by Iconoclast Image.
Today, December 11, is the birthday of
Sergey Igorevich Ponomarev (Сергей Игоревич Пономарёв), Russian photographer born in Moscow in 1980.
In 2016 he shared a Pulitzer Prize for Breaking News Photography with Mauricio Lima, Tyler Hicks, and Daniel Etter "For photographs that captured the resolve of refugees, the perils of their journeys and the struggle of host countries to take them in." Specifically, their coverage of the European migrant crisis, produced for The New York Times, was cited. He became the second individual Pulitzer Prize winner from Russia since 1992, after Alexander Zemlianichenko (1997).
Ponomarev graduated from Moscow State University and from Academy of Labour and Social Relations. Between 2003 and 2012 he worked for Associated Press, subsequently starting his career as freelance photographer. In 2015, he won the third prize of the World Press Photo award in the General News category for his photos of Gaza conflict. In 2016, he won the first prize in the same category for the European migrant crisis photos.
He is a frequent contributor to the New York Times. In 2015, the New York Times asked Ponomaryov to go to Greece and to photograph the landings of the refugees. Subsequently, he followed the refugees on their way to Western Europe, spending in total five months on the project.
Previously he covered the Moscow theater hostage crisis in Moscow in 2002, the Beslan school siege in 2004, the Euromaidan in Kiev, the War in Donbass and the Syrian civil war.
