Se graduó de la Academia Minerva en Groningen en 1996, donde todavía vive y trabaja. Encuentra sus temas cerca de sí misma: personas y animales, pero también objetos que colecciona porque le llaman la atención.
En sus retratos, Posthuma quiere sobre todo mostrar la "individualidad" de la persona o del animal retratado. El fondo neutro o abstracto lo hace resaltar muy poderosamente.

Hinke Posthuma is a Friesian painter born in 1971 in Lemmer, Netherlands.
She graduated from the Minerva Academy in Groningen in 1996, where she still lives and works. She finds her subjects close to herself: people and animals, but also objects that she collects because they draw her attention.
In her portraits, Posthuma mainly wants to show the 'individuality' of the person or animal portrayed. The neutral or abstracted background makes it stand out very powerfully.

Hiske Wiersma es una artista holandesa nacida en 1973. Vive y trabaja en las afueras de Berlikum (Berltsum) en el norte de la provincia de Frisia, donde tiene su propia galería de arte desde 2010.
Desde 1997 pinta activamente, principalmente retratos de personas y animales (vacas, ovejas, cabras y perros).
"Necesito sentirme en sintonía con una pintura desde el principio. Cuando eso sucede, sé que funcionará".
En el caso de los animales, esto es principalmente una cuestión de contacto visual. Esto explica por qué los ojos, que pinta primero, están trabajados con detalle, mientras que el resto de la criatura está retratada en un estilo más impresionista.

Hiske Wiersma is a Dutch artist born in 1973. She lives and works in the outskirts of Berlikum (Berltsum) in the north of the province of Friesland, where she has her own artgallery since 2010.
She has been actively painting, mainly portraits of people and animals (cows, sheep, goats and dogs), since 1997.

With animals, this is mainly a matter of eye contact. This explains why the eyes, which she paints first, are worked out in detail, while the rest of the creature is portrayed in a more impressionist style.

Después del bachillerato estudió en la Academia de Artes Visuales 'Constantijn Huygens' en Kampen, y en la escuela de horticultura en Frederiksoord.

In my free work I experiment with how much I want to show and in what way. Sometimes I pay more attention to form and another time to color or details. Usually I don't have to make a conscious choice. I don't really choose, so to speak, but know what attracted my attention in the first place. That thing - it can be a certain look, attitude or form to name but a few things - remains my main focus, and determines the decisions I make further on in the drawing or painting process.
