Linnell hizo una serie de réplicas de las "Cabezas visionarias" de Blake. Aparentemente tenía la intención de grabarlas para el "Tratado sobre la fisonomía zodiacal" en cuatro partes de Varley. De hecho, solo una parte del tratado se publicó alguna vez, en 1828. Sin embargo la inscripción en este dibujo, "15 Grados de Ascensión de Cáncer", bien puede indicar que se concibió como una de las láminas grabadas en ese trabajo. Además de la figura principal, la hoja contiene un dibujo con la boca del arquitecto abierta en lugar de cerrada (como en "La cabeza de un fantasma de una pulga"), un boceto del interior "egipcio" en el que Blake lo vio en su visión, y el portafolios de un arquitecto inscrita con jeroglíficos.

Linnell made a number of replicas of Blake's 'Visionary Heads'. Apparently he intended to engrave them for Varley's projected four-part 'Treatise on Zodiacal Physiognomy'. In fact only one part of the treatise was ever published, in 1828. However the inscription on this drawing, '15 Degrees of Cancer ascending', may well indicate that it was intended as one of the engraved plates in that work. As well as the main figure, the sheet contains a drawing of the architect's mouth open instead of shut (as in 'The Head of a Ghost of a Flea'), a sketch of the 'Egyptian' interior in which Blake saw him in his vision, and an architect's portfolio inscribed with hieroglyphics.

Un tangkasnet, transcrito de maneras diversas como thangka, tangka, thanka, tangkasnet o tanka (tibetano: Bha ཀ་, Nepal Bhasa: पौभा), es una pintura budista tibetana sobre algodón, seda o piel humana, que generalmente representa una deidad budista, escena o mandala. Tradicionalmente los Tangkas se conservan sin enmarcar y enrollados cuando no están en exhibición, montados en un respaldo textil, en un estilo similar al de las pinturas en pergamino chino, con una cubierta adicional de seda en el frente.

El Thangka cumple varias funciones diferentes. Las imágenes de las deidades se pueden utilizar como herramientas de enseñanza al representar la vida (o las vidas) de Buda, describiendo eventos históricos relacionados con Lamas importantes o volviendo a contar los mitos asociados con otras deidades. Las imágenes devocionales actúan como la pieza central durante un ritual o ceremonia y se usan a menudo como medios a través de los cuales uno puede ofrecer oraciones o hacer pedidos.

A tangkasnet, variously spelt as thangka, tangka, thanka, tangkasnet or tanka (Tibetan: ཐང་ཀ་; Nepal Bhasa: पौभा), is a Tibetan Buddhist painting on cotton, silk appliqué, or human skin usually depicting a Buddhist deity, scene, or mandala. Tangkas are traditionally kept unframed and rolled up when not on display, mounted on a textile backing somewhat in the style of Chinese scroll paintings, with a further silk cover on the front.

Thangka perform several different functions. Images of deities can be used as teaching tools when depicting the life (or lives) of the Buddha, describing historical events concerning important Lamas, or retelling myths associated with other deities. Devotional images act as the centerpiece during a ritual or ceremony and are often used as mediums through which one can offer prayers or make requests.

Emma Hack [Body Painting, Pintura, Fotografía]

Un original y meticuloso trabajo de body painting para conseguir estos notables efectos. La obra de Emma Hack, otro descubrimiento de mi infatigable amiga Shirley Rebuffo, que siempre encuentra tiempo para investigar la actividad artística en la red. Lo presentaré en más de un post, ya que me encantan sus composiciones y Emma ha desarrollado una gran producción tanto en lo exclusivamente artístico, como en lo comercial.

An original and meticulous body painting to achieve these remarkable effects. The work of Emma Hack, another discovery of my friend Shirley Rebuffo, always finding time to investigate the artistic activity in the network. Emma comenzó a explorar la idea del camuflaje inspirada en la icónica modelo Veruschka que, en los '60 y '70 se pintaba a sí misma en muros rústicos y ambientes naturales. Cuando Emma descubrió los diseños de papel pintado de Florence Broadhurst, obtuvo la inspiración perfecta. Signature Prints, los editores de la colección de Broadhurst, le dieron su bendición no sólo para utilizar sus diseños, sino que le ofrecieron un acceso ilimitado a los archivos de Florence Broadhurst con más de 530 diseños. Así comenzó la colección de papeles pintados con imágenes que abarcan desde 2005 hasta su más reciente colección de 2010. Fue durante este tiempo que Emma comenzó a exponer sus ediciones limitadas de imágenes fotográficas. The reaction new viewers have to Emma's work is usually one of intrigue. Drawn in by the exquisite designs and striking representations of animals, it is not long before there is the realization that a human form, a person, and/or an animal, is present in the work. And the questions arise: How does she do it? Surely it's superimposed? How long does it take? Does the model really have to stand there the whole time?

Emma began exploring the notion of camouflage, drawing inspiration from iconic model, Veruschka, who in the 1960s and 70s painted herself into rustic walls and naturalistic settings. When Emma discovered the iconic Florence Broadhurst range of wallpaper designs, it provided the perfect inspiration. Signature Prints, the publishers of the Broadhurst range, gave their blessing for Emma to not only use the designs, but granted her full access to the Florence Broadhurst archives of some 530 designs. So began the Wallpaper Collection of images that span from 2005 to her recently launched collection in 2010. It was during this time that Emma began exhibiting her limited edition photographic images. Her first ever wallpaper camouflage took 19 hours straight to paint with more recent works taking anywhere from 8-15 hours, depending on the complexity of the design. It is an exhausting process for artist and subject alike; however the results are nothing short of spectacular.

In the Wallpaper Mandala Collection, Emma has painstakingly camouflaged the human form into combined wallpaper designs, creating a circular mandala collagued background into which her muse is artfully blended.

Serie Utopia

Utopía fue creado para presentar una serie de 4 imágenes que al final forman una sola. "Utopía" es un mundo mejor, donde humanos y animales / aves coexisten con amor y consideración.

Emma trabajó creando un primer plano suave de follaje en cada imagen, completando 4 obras florales de fuerte presencia, ofreciendo el punto de vista de una mirilla utilizado para comprender un momento íntimo entre su musa y el pájaro escogido, añadiendo profundidad a una auténtica ilusión bidimensional de camuflaje.

Utopia was created to feature a series of 4 images that would ultimately form one. ‘Utopia’ is an ultimate world where humans and animals/birds co-exist with love and consideration.

Emma worked with creating a soft ‘foreground’ of foliage in each image, with the final 4 floral works featuring this strongly, offering a peephole viewpoint for use to realize an intimate moment between her muse and bird featured, adding depth to the very 2 dimensional illusion of camoflague.

Una adelantada a su tiempo, la compleja, excéntrica y talentosa Florence Broadhurst nació en una zona rural de Queensland, Australia, en 1899. Para cuando murió en 1977, Broadhurst había vivido y trabajado en Australia, Asia e Inglaterra, interpretado profesionalmente en escena, hecho amistad con la realeza, exhibido sus obras y fundado una compañía internacional de papeles pintados, cuyo éxito se basó en sus propios diseños.

Transforming her creative talent into a business opportunity, she started a revolutionary wallpaper business in 1959, creating hundreds of unique and luxurious patterns with rich and vibrant colours all perfectly matching her flamboyant personality. By the mid 1930s, her company monopolised the Australian market and started exporting to America, Peru, Paris, the Middle East and Norway. She continued to work actively until her death.
