Su trabajo ha aparecido en el New York Times Magazine, The Sunday Times Magazine, la revista Du, LIFE, Stern, Geo, Paris-Match, Parkett, Aperture y The New Yorker.

On December 28 is the birthday of

Jean-Gabriel Eynard, Swiss banker born in Lyon in 1775.
In 1795, Jean-Gabriel and his brother Jacques went to Genoa and both were soon heading a flourishing commercial concern. In 1800 Massena's troops entered the town and Jean-Gabriel was entrusted with their supply. In particular he furnished them with uniforms cut from the blue cloth called "bleu de Genes" whence later derives the famous garment known worldwide as "blue jeans".
In 1801, he entered in a highly speculative and hazardous financial venture becoming the sole subscriber to a bond issued by the duke of Etruria. That audacious move was crowned with success and constituted the foundation of his immense fortune.
In 1809, he spent a long time in Paris in order to await the Emperor's return having been entrusted with the mission of thanking him, on behalf of both the Mediterranean Department and the Chamber of Commerce of Livorno, for the nomination of Elisa as Grand Duchess.
In 1810 he moved to Geneva. He was ambassador of the Geneva republic at the Congress of Vienna in 1815. In the following year he helped to organize the administration of Tuscany, which he represented at the Congress of Aix-la-Chapelle in 1818.
He was one of the first in Switzerland to use the daguerreotype technique presented in 1839. In particular, he made daguerreotypes of his family, his home, landscapes and himself between 1842 and 1863.
He died in 1863.

On December 29 is the birthday of

Gilles Peress, French photographer born in 1946, and a member of Magnum Photos.
Peress began working with photography in 1970, having previously studied political science and philosophy in Paris. One of Peress’ first projects examined immigration in Europe, and he has since documented events in Northern Ireland, Lebanon, Palestine, Iran, the Balkans, Rwanda, the U.S., Afghanistan and Iraq. His ongoing project, Hate Thy Brother, a cycle of documentary narratives, looks at intolerance and the re-emergence of nationalism throughout the world and its consequences.
Peress’ books include Telex Iran; The Silence: Rwanda; Farewell to Bosnia; The Graves: Srebrenica and Vukovar; A Village Destroyed; and Haines. Portfolios of his work have appeared in the New York Times Magazine, The Sunday Times Magazine, Du magazine, Life, Stern, Geo, Paris-Match, Parkett, Aperture and The New Yorker.
Peress’ work has been exhibited and is collected by the Museum of Modern Art, Metropolitan Museum of Art, Whitney Museum of American Art and MoMA PS1, all in New York; Art Institute of Chicago; Corcoran Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C; Victoria and Albert Museum in London; Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, Musée Picasso, Parc de la Villette and Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris; Museum Folkwang, Essen; among others.

On December 30 is the birthday of

Milton Rogovin, documentary photographer born in 1909 who has been compared to great social documentary photographers of the 19th and 20th centuries, such as Lewis Hine and Jacob Riis. His photographs are in the Library of Congress, the J. Paul Getty Museum, the Center for Creative Photography and other distinguished institutions.
Rogovin was called before the House Un-American Activities Committee in 1957. Like many other Americans who embraced Communism as a model for improving the quality of life for the working class, he became a subject of the Committee's attentions in the postwar period. He was discredited — without having been convicted of any offense — as someone whose views henceforth had to be discounted as dangerous and irresponsible. The incident inspired Rogovin to turn to photography as a means of expression; it was a way to continue to speak to the worth and dignity of people who make their livings under modest or difficult circumstances, often in physically taxing occupations that usually receive little attention.
In 1957, a collaboration with William Tallmadge, a professor of music, to document music at storefront churches set Rogovin on his photographic path. Rogovin worked on a month-long photographic series on the island of Chiloé, Chile. Poet,Pablo Neruda helped guide Rogovin and provide friends to drive and introduce Rogovin to contacts throughout the Island.
From 1981-1990, Rogovin photographed coal miners, a project that took him to Zimbabwe, France, Scotland, Spain,Cuba,China, and Mexico. Many of these images were published in his first book, The Forgotten Ones.
He died in 2011.

Today, December 31, is the birthday of

David Robinson, British photographer, artist, and author born in 1973 in Enniskillen, Northern Ireland.
Preoccupied with the landscape of leisure he is best known as the creator of Golfers (published by Glass 2000), Wonderland (GenerationYacht 2003), and Lee Valley Leisure (GenerationYacht 2005). He has worked commercially throughout his career, creating images for Penguin books, Polydor, EMI, Sony, Adobe, Pfizer, and editorially, working for The Guardian, The Independent and The Daily Telegraph. Robinson was commissioned by Penguin to photograph the dub-reggae poet Linton Kwesi Johnson for the cover of his 2001 modern classics book Mi Revalueshanary Fren. Robinson has also created images of The Divine Comedy for their album Regeneration and for recent releases by Guillemots.
In 2007 he featured in BBC series Britain in Pictures in which he was filmed whilst photographing ballrooms and other inspirational buildings in the province where he grew up. Also in 2007 he contributed landscape images to the BBC Culture Show illustrating an interview with US singer Gwen Stefani.
For the last four years his artwork has combined his passion for photography and food, producing  magnificent and highly original Fungi Luminograms in his east-end darkroom.
Robinson's images have been exhibited widely in the UK and beyond.

On December 27 is the birthday of

René Georges Hermann-Paul, French artist was born in Paris in 1864.
Recent efforts to catalog the work of Hermann-Paul reveal an artist of considerable scope. He was a well-known illustrator whose work appeared in numerous newspapers and periodicals. His fine art was displayed in gallery exhibitions alongside Vuillard, Matisse and Toulouse-Lautrec. Early works were noted for their satiric characterizations of the foibles of French society. His illustrations relied on blotches of pure black with minimum outline to define his animated marionettes. His exhibition pieces were carried by large splashes of color and those same fine lines of black. Hermann-Paul worked in Ripolin enamel paint, watercolors, woodcuts, lithographs, drypoint engraving, oils, and ink.
On the eve of the First World War, he made quite an impression as part of M. Druet's "First Group." The Great War soon intervened and Hermann-Paul would document its tragedy as well as its foibles. After the war, he underwent several stylistic changes. In his later years, he produced many works in dry point and ink depicting his beloved Camargue.
He died in 1940.

On December 28 is the birthday of

Robert Neffson, American painter born in 1949, known for his street scenes of various cities around the world, and for his early still lifes and figure paintings.
He began attending classes at the Art Students League of New York in 1961, under the instruction of artists such as Lennart Anderson and Sidney Dickinson. As a student he copied old masters at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. His study of, among others, the painters Jan Vermeer, Thomas Eakins, Camille Corot, and Canaletto, developed his skills further. While attending the Boston University College of Fine Arts, from which he graduated cum laude in 1971, Neffson’s work attracted the attention of his professors, including James Weeks and the abstract expressionist painter, Philip Guston.
In 1976, Neffson's life and work were significantly changed when he was awarded the Fulbright-Hayes Fellowship for Painting in Rome.
Neffson was a member of the First Street Gallery in New York from 1978 to 1985, during which time he had numerous solo exhibitions, as well as group shows with such fellow artists as Catherine Murphy. While represented from 1985 to 1998 by Gallery Henoch in New York City, he was inspired by Richard Estes and Chuck Close and was among a group of second-generation Photorealist painters that were exhibiting in SoHo galleries such as O. K. Harris Works of Art and Louis Meisel Gallery.

On December 29 is the birthday of

Albert Lee Tucker, Australian artist born in 1914, and member of the Heide Circle, a group of modernist artists and writers that centred on the art patrons John and Sunday Reed, whose home, "Heide", located in Bulleen, near Heidelberg (outside Melbourne), was a haven for the group.
Tucker left school at 14 to help support his family and had no formal art training, but obtained work as a house painter, cartoonist and commercial illustrator, in an advertising agency before joining the commercial artist John Vickery. For seven years he attended the Victorian Artists' Society evening life drawing class three nights a week.
Tucker's main inspirations include post-impressionists, expressionists and social realists, as well as personal experience. Tucker's work was strongly influenced by the realistic reflections of two important émigré artists, Josl Bergner and Danila Vassilieff, who arrived in Melbourne in the late 1930s about the same time that Tucker began to explore images of the Great Depression.
Tucker associated with John and Sunday Reed, who saw connections between Tucker's work and other artists, angry at the social situation. This so-called "Angry Decade" of the 1940s, saw artist Tucker become associated with the Angry Penguins, a group of modernist artists including Joy Hester, Sidney Nolan, John Perceval, Arthur Boyd and Noel Counihan.
In 1959, Tucker won the Australian Women's Weekly Prize, which enabled him to spend two years in New York producing the Manhattan Series and Antipodean Heads. In 1960 he was awarded the Kurt Geiger Award by MOMA Australia which he used to return to Australia and mount his first Australian solo exhibition.
In 1990 the National Gallery of Australia held a retrospective of his work.
He died in 1999.

On December 30 is the birthday of

Beauford Delaney, American modernist painter born in 1901. He is remembered for his work with the Harlem Renaissance in the 1930s and 1940s, as well as his later works in abstract expressionism following his move to Paris in the 1950s.
When he was a teenager, he got a job as a "helper" at the Post Sign Company. However, he and his younger brother Joseph were drawing signs of their own. Then some of his work was noticed by Lloyd Branson, an elderly American Impressionist and Knoxville's best known artist. By the early 1920s, Delaney became the apprentice of Branson. Branson's encouragement, the 23-year-old Delaney migrated north to Boston to study art.
His arrival in New York City at the time of the Harlem Renaissance was exciting. Delaney felt an immediate affinity with this "multitude of people of all races – spending every night of their lives in parks and cafes" surviving on next to nothing.
One of Delaney's works from this period, Can Fire in the Park (oil on canvas, 1946), where a group of men huddle together for warmth and companionship around an open fire, is described by the Smithsonian American Art Museum as a "disturbingly contemporary vignette [which] conveys a legacy of deprivation linked not only to the Depression years after 1929 but also to the longstanding disenfranchisement of black Americans, portrayed here as social outcasts… Despite its sober subject, the scene crackles with energy, the culmination of Delaney's sharp pure colors, thickly applied paints, and tought, schematic patterning. Abandoning the precise realism of his early academic training, Delaney developed a lyrically expressive style that drew upon his love of musical rhythms and his improvisational use of color." Works such as Can Fire in the Park "hover between representation and abstraction as that style evolved during the 1940s."
He died in 1979.

Today, December 31, is the birthday of

Hermann Max Pechstein, German expressionist painter and printmaker born in 1881, and a member of the Die Brücke group.
Pechstein was born in Zwickau, the son of a craftsman who worked in a textile mill. Early contact with the art of Vincent van Gogh stimulated Pechstein's development toward expressionism. After studying art first at the School of Applied Arts and then at the Royal Art Academy in Dresden, Pechstein met Erich Heckel and joined the art group Die Brücke in 1906. He was the only member to have formal art training. Later in Berlin, he helped to found the Neue Sezession and gained recognition for his decorative and colorful paintings that were lent from the ideas of Van Gogh, Matisse, and the Fauves. His paintings eventually became more primitivist, incorporating thick black lines and angular figures.
From in 1933, Pechstein was vilified by the Nazis because of his art. A total of 326 of his paintings were removed from German museums. Sixteen of his works were displayed in the Entartete Kunst (Degenerate Art) exhibition of 1937. During this time, Pechstein went into seclusion in rural Pomerania.
He was a prolific printmaker, producing 421 lithographs, 315 woodcuts and linocuts, and 165 intaglio prints.
Pechstein was a professor at the Berlin Academy for ten years before his dismissal by the Nazis in 1933. He was reinstated in 1945, and subsequently won numerous titles and awards for his work.
He died in 1955.

Nick Sheehy

Nick Sheehy is an Australian-born artist and illustrator living in London.
After studying bronze sculpture in the wilds of Tasmania, Nick gave up on art only to re-discover his love of drawing whilst living in London, sparked by an interest in the city’s low brow art, illustration, street art, and graffiti.
In his work, Nick explores the dreamlike, sometimes semi-autobiographical scenes and oddball characters that echo from his childhood imagination.
Employing a laborious technique, building up layers of texture and thin colour, his work infuses precision and attention to detail with random abstraction and clumsiness. He enjoys drawing various weird things for himself, exhibitions, publications, and occasionally the odd client.

Nano Lopez

Nano Lopez is a Colombian artist born in Bogota, 1955.
He has lived and worked in his native Colombia, also in France, Spain and EE.UU.
Look closely at Nano's sculpture and you will discover the bright colors of a Colombian market place, animals precariously laden with pots, fruits, vegetables, birds, bees, geckos, Pre-Columbian and contemporary artifacts. Look closer still and discover a deep respect for life, clearly observed, where everything, even a mischievous goat balanced on a pile of cast away tires is amazing.
"Timothy", bronce / bronze, 6" x 16" x 3,5"

«Timothy and his buddies "the Meerkats" like spending their time together collecting old tires on the open road, actually it's kind of like half business and half a environmental effort to keep things good and clean, and as always at the end of the day they give the tires to a friend that has a tire recycling business.»

Jeff Friesen

La última migración / Last Migration, "Rinoceronte / Rhino" © Jeff Friesen

Jeff Friesen's photography has received worldwide acclaim for a remarkably diverse array of work. He has been awarded the photography world's most prestigious honors from organizations such as Communication Arts, Photo District News, and the International Photography Awards. While Jeff is known for working with a wide-range of subjects, a fresh, simple vision is found throughout all of his personal and assigned work.

Last migration
Our encounters with the animal kingdom begin shortly after birth. We learn the alphabet using aardvarks and zebras. We make friends with stuffed bears. We watch cartoons featuring talking turtles and rascally rabbits. Our childhoods are intertwined with animals in a profound, ever-present way.
Given our early attachment to animals it’s surprising that as adults many people are indifferent to the fate of wild creatures. It’s well publicized that a wide range of animals are threatened by human activity, yet in most cases their numbers continue to decline. In the future will we be left with nothing more than plastic toys as proxies for the real thing? Is the last animal migration from flesh to plastic?

Rinoceronte veneciano / Venetian Rhino

When visiting St Mark’s Basilica in Venice, we are inclined to turn our gaze upwards to admire the beautiful mosaics on the ceiling. In reality, we should also look downwards, because the flooring is another art work of incredible value.
It is a mosaic floor in opus sectile and opus tesselatum in marble, dating from the 12th century, but largely rebuilt during the following centuries. There are twines depicted, geometric meanders, wheels, but also animals, such as deer, dogs, doves, eagles and many others, all of symbolic significance.
On the left side of the entrance of the Basilica, on the mosaic floor, there is a rhinoceros of uncertain date, symbol of strength. This would also be a talisman to ward off diseases.
This unusual mosaic has been a subject of furious debate for years, with scholars split over whether it dates from the 13th, 15th, 16th, 18th or even 20th centuries.
