Uruguayos / Uruguayans (XXXI) - Armando Bergallo (II) (Pintura / Painting)

Armando Bergallo is a very interesting artist with whom we have contacted thanks to the usual dedication of my good friend and collaborator Shirley Rebuffo. "Baco / Bacchus", óleo sobre tela / oil on canvas, 70 x 80 cm., 1980

«My interpretation of the BACCHUS marks the confirmation of the rupture with the constructive norms of my formation. I went from the rejection of naturalism, the rejection of renaissance painting, even more from the baroque to a desire to approach, almost physically in this example, to Caravaggio. At the same time I needed to include movement in the work, doubling the face and the wine overflowing the glass. From this painting on my work will be eclectic, an uncontrollable desire for freedom.»

"Descartes aux Pays-Bas / en los Países Bajos / at The Netherlands"

Acrílico sobre tela / acrylic on canvas, 400 x 400 cm., 1985

«Descartes aux Pays-Bas and Les villes de Descartes were commissioned by Jean Galard, Director of Maison Descartes, the French Institute in Amsterdam, on the occasion of the visit of President François Mitterrand to the Netherlands in 1985. The theme of the exhibition was Descartes in the Netherlands.
In Descartes aux Pays-Bas I created this metaphor of The Anatomy Lesson of Rembrandt by changing the image of Dr. Nicolaes Tulp in a realistic portrait of Descartes.
Les villes de Descartes shows the 9 cities where Descartes lived during the 20 years of his residence in the Netherlands.»

«I created HERCULE with enthusiastic passion, possessed by the desire to find during the process of realization, the surprise. In each image of this installation, I feel the memory of the History of Art and at the same time I see that my imagination is expressed without limits or prejudices. A true feast of creation is installed with the impression that my blood is part of the fluid of life. In HERCULE I have the sensation of feeling like a child at the beginning of its existence.
This project marks the awakening of a new cycle of life and work and my inspiration says YES to the pursuit of beauty. HERCULE is a song that celebrates in full voice the human and the energy of life.»

"Éveil / Despertar / Awakening", acrílico sobre tela / acrylic on canvas, 100 x 100 cm., 2017

"L'Homme et L'Infini / El hombre y el infinito / Man and Infinity"
Acrílico sobre tela / acrylic on canvas, 120 x 100 cm., 2014

"Infini mon amour / Infinito, mi amor / Infinity, my love"
Acrílico sobre tela / acrylic on canvas, 1200 x 215 cm., Atelier Lalandusse, Francia / France, 2015

«The incredible power that comes from the eyes of the animals led me to deepen the concept of energy, but now in a broader sens, the force of the universe. An idea that I already felt in the Flower series, which expresses the creative power of nature. The encounter with the work Désir d'Infini of the astrophysicist Trinh Xuan Thuan was a stimulus to advance my project INFINI. I decided to develop this work in my space in Lalandusse in three parts.
In INFINI - Premier Pas, I began with the idea of the human body as a terrestrial landscape, which means to start from our planet and from the human being.
In INFINI - Deuxième Pas my gaze is directed towards the cosmos.
In INFINI - Le Temps, the third part, I ask myself about the existence of time, our idea of life and death.»
