Hace un tiempo contacté con la artista rusa que presento hoy, Elena Schumacher, y le envié un breve cuestionario para ampliar un poco la escasa información disponible sobre su vida y obra. Poco tiempo después me respondió y se manifestó dispuesta a hacerlo. Al retomar recientemente la actividad del blog, descubro con sorpresa que su cuenta de facebook ha desaparecido, y algún otro sitio relacionado con su trabajo ha cesado su actividad. No obstante, y a la espera de su reaparición o alguna pista sólida sobre qué puede haber ocurrido, me interesa compartir con ustedes una selección de su obra relacionada con los canes, junto con los pocos datos disponibles.

Some time ago I contacted the Russian artist I am presenting today, Elena Schumacher, and sent her a brief questionnaire to expand a little the scarce information available about her life and work. Shortly thereafter, she answered me and expressed her willingness to do so. When I recently resumed the activity of the blog, I discovered with surprise that her facebook account has disappeared, and some other site related to her work has ceased its activity. Nevertheless, and pending her reappearance or some solid clue as to what may have happened, I am interested in sharing with you a selection of her canine-related work, along with the little data available.

Elena Schumacher nació en 1969 en Novomoskovsk, Rusia. Al terminar la educación secundaria estuvo en una Escuela de Artes para Niños en su ciudad natal. Más tarde ingresó en la facultad de Artes de la Universidad Estatal de Smolensk y después de graduarse trabajó en el jardín de infancia como maestra de arte. Sólo a partir de 2008 fue cuando comenzó a hacer pinturas profesionales. Este mismo año tuvo lugar su primera exposición individual «Sueños de colores» en Vitebsk, Bielorrusia. Ahora Elena vive y trabaja en Smolensk con su familia, que es su principal fuente de inspiración. En cuanto a sus pinturas, todas están basadas en sentimientos y emociones. Uno puede decir que Elena pinta en los estilos de expresionismo, postmodernismo y abstracción, sin embargo ella busca romper los límites de diferentes géneros para desarrollar su propio estilo. Lo más importante para Elena es que sus imágenes evoquen emociones y no dejen a nadie indiferente.

Elena Schumacher was born in 1969 in Novomoskovsk, Russia. She got her secondary education and attended a Children’s School of Arts in her native town. Later Elena entered the Arts faculty of the Smolensk State University and after graduating she worked as an art teacher in the kindergarten. It’s only in 2008 that she started to do professional paintings. This very year her first personal exhibition «Colorful Dreams» took place in Vitebsk, Byelorussia.
Now Elena lives and works in Smolensk with her family, which is her principal source of inspiration. As for her paintings, they are all based on feelings and emotions. One can say that Elena paints in the styles of expressionism, postmodernism and abstraction. Nevertheless, she tries to break the limits of different genres to work out her own style. The most important for Elena is that her pictures evoke emotions and don’t leave anyone indifferent. Arthur
