Arjan van Gent

Arjan van Gent nació en 1970 en Delft y estudió en la Real Academia de La Haya y en la Escuela de Arte de Ámsterdam. Su obra se encuentra tanto en colecciones privadas (como la de Sting, Romy Haag, Paulette McWilliams, la familia Cruyff y los ex alumnos de David Bowie Mike Garson, Carmine Rojas, Gerry Leonard, Earl Slick, Carlos Alomar y Alan Childs) como en museos (el museo Gerard Reve de Ámsterdam y el museo Swaensteyn de Voorburg) y se expone regularmente en el estudio Pulchri de La Haya. En 2016 ganó el Premio del Público del Salón de Verano de la misma galería. Su obra también se expuso en la Galerie Pictura, Morren Galleries, Kunstzaal Van Heijningen, Galerie Wildevuur y en el Premio Holandés de Retrato, entre otros. En 2012 participó en el conocido programa de televisión "Estrellas en la pantalla".
Su otra gran pasión es la enseñanza y desde 2009 imparte clases de Dibujo Clásico y Pintura en su propia Escuela de Artes Figurativas, Atelier Sint Lucas. Website

Arjan van Gent was born in 1970 in Delft and studied at the Royal Academy in The Hague and the Amsterdam School of the Arts. His work is in both private (including private collection of Sting, Romy Haag, Paulette McWilliams, the Cruyff family and David Bowie alumni Mike Garson, Carmine Rojas, Gerry Leonard, Earl Slick, Carlos Alomar and Alan Childs) and museum collections (Gerard Reve museum in Amsterdam and museum Swaensteyn in Voorburg) and was regularly shown at Pulchri Studio in The Hague. In 2016 he won the Audience Award of the Summer Salon at the same gallery. His work was also shown at Galerie Pictura, Morren Galleries, Kunstzaal Van Heijningen, Galerie Wildevuur and at the Dutch Portrait Prize, among others. In 2012 he was a participant in the famous television program "Stars on the Screen".
His other great passion is teaching and he has been teaching Classical Drawing and Painting techniques at his own School of Figurative Arts, Atelier Sint Lucas, since 2009. Website

Charles Hermann-Léon fue un pintor francés nacido en 1838 en El Havre.
Alumno de Philippe Rousseau (1816-1897), debutó en el Salón de 1861. Hermann-Léon fue principalmente un pintor de animales. Se le concedió la Legión de Honor en 1897.
Murió en 1908.

A pupil of Philippe Rousseau (1816-1897), he made his debut at the Salon of 1861. Hermann-Léon was primarily a painter of animals. He was awarded the Legion of Honor in 1897.

Gert Lambert (Drachten, 1962) estudió diseño gráfico de 1980 a 1985 en la Academia de Arte y Diseño ArtEZ (antes CABK, Kampen). Tras una carrera como diseñador gráfico, consultor, autor e investigador, decidió cambiar de rumbo en 2013. Desde entonces se ha centrado en su pasión original: la pintura y el dibujo. En esto se considera principalmente autodidacta.
Gert pinta retratos humanos y de animales por encargo, así como "estudios de personajes" y desnudos por cuenta propia. La belleza es el punto de partida de su obra, pero también intenta representar el tema de la forma más realista posible. Las fuentes de inspiración más importantes son los retratistas del Renacimiento, pero también el pintor florentino del siglo XX Annigoni. Website

Gert Lambert (Drachten, 1962) studied graphic design from 1980-'85 at the ArtEZ Academy for Art & Design (v/h CABK, Kampen). After a career as a graphic designer, consultant, author and researcher, he decided to change course in 2013. Since then he has focused on his original passion: painting and drawing. In this, he considers himself primarily self-taught.
Gert paints commissioned human and animal portraits as well as free "character studies" and nudes. Beauty is the starting point of his work, but he also tries to render the subject as realistically as possible. Important sources of inspiration are portrait painters from the Renaissance, but also the 20th century Florentine painter Annigoni. Website

Pieter Boel (o Peeter) fue un pintor, grabador y diseñador de tapices flamenco nacido en 1622.
Se especializó en suntuosos bodegones y pinturas de animales. Se trasladó a París, donde trabajó en la fábrica de gobelinos y se convirtió en pintor del rey. Pieter Boel revolucionó la pintura de animales trabajando directamente a partir de ejemplares vivos en un entorno natural. Así llegó a representaciones de animales que los mostraban en sus poses naturales y características. Tuvo muchos seguidores en Francia.
Murió en 1674.

Pieter Boel or Peeter Boelwas a Flemish painter, printmaker and tapestry designer born in 1622.
He specialised in lavish still lifes and animal paintings. He moved to Paris, where he worked in the gobelin factory and became a painter to the king. Pieter Boel revolutionized animal painting by working directly from live animals in a natural setting. He thus arrived at representations of animals showing them in their natural, characteristic poses. He had many followers in France.
He died in 1674.

Justin Coburn nació en 1966 en el noreste de Escocia.
Tras estudiar Bellas Artes en la década de 1980, comenzó a trabajar como diseñador comercial. Ahora pinta profesionalmente y a tiempo completo. En su obra más reciente podemos ver su interés por el estudio de los animales. Con la forma como presenta a los animales busca que reflexionemos sobre la relación que el hombre tiene con la naturaleza y cómo ésta se manifiesta a nivel simbólico, religioso y ético. ¿Cuál es nuestra propia percepción como ser "inseguro" en el mundo? El artista obtuvo el segundo puesto como Artista de vida silvestre del año 2018, y en el mismo año recibió el Premio Lyon y Turnbull de pintura de la Royal Scottish Academy Open. En 2018 fue seleccionado para la exposición New Light en la Bankside Gallery de Londres.

Justin Coburn was born in northeast Scotland in 1966.
After studying fine arts in the 1980s, he began working as a commercial designer. Now he paints professionally and full time. In his most recent work, we see especially his interest in studies of animals. In the way he presents the animal, Coburn wants us to think about the relationship humans have with nature and how this manifests itself on a symbolic, religious and ethical level. What is our own perception as an 'insecure' being in the world? The artist won second place as 'wildlife artist of the year 2018' and in the same year received 'the Lyon and Turnbull Award for painting' from the Royal Scottish Academy Open. Wendy Elia es una artista británica nacida en 1953. Se formó en la St Martins School of Art de Londres y ha expuesto ampliamente, siendo finalista en varios concursos nacionales e internacionales, entre ellos cuatro veces en la National Portrait Gallery, así como en el Sovereign European Art Prize y el Threadneedle Prize. Su obra también forma parte de varias colecciones públicas de arte permanentes de todo el país.
Wendy trabaja en series que exploran los contextos sociales y más amplios de nuestro tiempo. En su obra de retratos se enfrenta a nuestro voyeurismo y se pregunta sobre la mirada femenina y la relación de la pintura con la autenticidad y la ilusión. Wendy Elia is a British artist born in 1953. She trained at St Martins School of Art, London and has exhibited widely being a finalist in a number of national and international competitions which include 4 times at the National Portrait Gallery, as well as The Sovereign European Art Prize, and The Threadneedle Prize. Her work is also held in a number of public permanent art collections across the country.
Wendy Elia works in series which explore the social and broader contexts of our times. In her portrait work she confronts our voyeurism and asks questions about the female gaze and painting’s relationship to authenticity and illusion. Elia moves from the personal to the political not only in the range of content and form in the various series, but also within individual paintings: using a range of pictorial symbols and signifiers to extend the meaning/narrative of the works.
