At the beginning of the 20th century, Flodin competed with Ateljé Jaeger for the best position among the distinguished portrait studios in Stockholm. His portraits are artistically styled, where the coarse grains of photography become a means of expression reminiscent of a graphic sheet.
In 1906 he became secretary of the Swedish Photographers Association, which he held until 1915. As secretary of it, he wrote a number of articles mostly on technical news and on business economics. A large part of his work and collections can be found at the Photographic Museum (now part of the Moderna museet) in Stockholm.
He died in 1935.

On February 14 is the birthday of

Louis-Émile Durandelle, French photographer born in 1839 in Verdun. He is famous for his documentary shots of architecture and works of art.
He teamed up with photographer Hyacinthe César Delmaet from 1854 to 1862 in Paris at 30-32, Chaussée de Clignancourt. Shortly after the death of Delmaet in 1862, the photography studio moved to 22, boulevard des Filles-du-Calvaire, retaining the name Delmaet and Durandelle. In 1868, he moved again to 4, rue du Faubourg-Montmartre. In 1885 Clemence Jacob, widow Delmaet, became the wife of Louis-Emile Durandelle.
The Delmaet and Durandelle workshop specialized in architectural photography, especially the building sites, restorations and public works (monuments, buildings, works of art and engineering) in France, in the second half of the nineteenth century, by talented architects and engineers: Édouard Corroyer (Mont-Saint-Michel abbey, Comptoir d'escompte de Paris), Charles Garnier (Paris Opera, Bordighera villa, Monte-Carlo opera), Edmond Guillaume (excavations and substructures of the Louvre Palace), Henri Labrouste (Imperial and National Library), Paul Abadie (Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Montmartre), Gustave Eiffel ...

He almost always made his shots in large format, on collodion plates, which gives his photographs "a striking modernity" - prints drawn on albumen paper, often turned to gold - a particular beauty.
He sold his studio and his photographic collection to one of his collaborators, Paul Joseph Albert Chevojon (1865-1925) and in 1890 he retired to Colombes with Clemence, who died there in 1892. He then remarried in 1910 in Samois- sur-Seine with Julie-Eugénie Saint-Léger.
