Bruce Charlesworth, artista visual estadounidense nacido en 1950 en Davenport, Iowa, conocido principalmente por sus trabajos fotográficos, de video y multimedia.
Recibió su licenciatura en Arte de la Universidad del Norte de Iowa (1972) y su Maestría en Bellas Artes en Pintura de la Universidad de Iowa en 1975.
Es un artista multidisciplinario cuyo trabajo mezcla video, película, instalación, fotografía, diseño, performance e interactividad. Estuvo entre la primera ola de artistas en adoptar un enfoque de dirección y fabricado de la imagen fotográfica. También inventó una forma inmersiva de instalación psicológica o entorno narrativo, una combinación física de arquitectura, performance, video y sonido.

He received his BA in Art from the University of Northern Iowa (1972) and his MFA in Painting from the University of Iowa in 1975.
He is a multidisciplinary artist whose work crosses between video, film, installation, photography, design, performance and interactivity. He was among the first wave of artists to take a directorial and fabricated approach to the photographic image. He also invented an immersive form of psychological installation or narrative environment, a physical blend of architecture, performance, video and sound.
Charlesworth’s work is often characterized by its singular use of color and visual framework, measured pace and a highly personal yet ambitious scope. His work as a writer and director features performances of isolated gesture that range from near invisibility to grand opera, using absurdly-tinged, naturalistic prose that subverts what is ordinary and familiar.

Charlesworth began to exhibit in New York and internationally with the photo-novellas Eddie Glove (1976–79), and Special Communiqués (1981). Other staged photographic series followed. Surveillance (1981) was the first of many of what Charlesworth termed narrative environments, works that use video and/or audio to power a narrative within a designed space. Throughout much of the 1990s Charlesworth worked on his feature-length experimental film project Private Enemy - Public Eye.
His work has been shown at the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris, London's Tate Gallery, The American Film Institute, the Whitney Museum of American Art, the National Museum of American Art in Washington, and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago and many other museums and galleries.

Jarrad Seng, fotógrafo y cineasta australiano. Con sede en Perth, su trabajo a menudo se mezcla con sus intereses en la música, los viajes y el voluntariado. Seng colabora frecuentemente con el cantante inglés Passenger, actuando como su fotógrafo de giras en siete de ellas entre 2012 y 2015, además de dirigir muchos de sus videos musicales. On February 2 is the birthday of
Jarrad Seng, Australian photographer and filmmaker. Based in Perth, his work often mixes with his interests in music, travel and volunteering. Seng frequently collaborates with English singer Passenger, serving as his tour photographer on seven tours between 2012 and 2015, as well as directing many of his music videos. Seng has also toured with American band Matchbox Twenty and Australian folk singer Stu Larsen.
His personal photographic work has seen him traveling to both Tanzania and Iceland twice. Seng has held four solo exhibitions — Portraits of Tanzania (2011), Alltervatn (2013), Spirit of the Masaai (2014) and The Space Between (2015) — and a collaborative exhibition, Parallels (2016), with Perth-based artist Amok Island.

Seng received international media coverage in December 2014 after a prank video, in which he walked around a music festival disguised as American DJ Steve Aoki, went viral. In 2013, Seng was a finalist in the Propel Youth Arts Award category at the 2013 WA Youth Awards. Seng competed in season four of Australian Survivor, which began airing in late July 2017.

Initially influenced by various minimalist and conceptual tendencies, Valérie Belin became interested in the photographic medium in its own right; this is at once the subject of her work and her way of reflecting and creating. Light, matter and the “body” of things and beings in general, as well as their transformations and representations, constitute the terrain of her experiments and the world of her artistic ideas. Her work is articulated in photographic series, each one produced within the framework of a specific project.
The works of Valérie Belin have been exhibited around the world and are held in numerous public and private collections. Winner of the Prix Pictet in 2015 (Disorder), she was made an officer of France’s Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in 2017.

Jean-Baptiste (Alphonse) Bernoud, fotógrafo francés nacido en 1820 en Meximieux.
Como pionero de la fotografía, Bernoud viajó a Italia, donde su fama pronto alcanzó los altos rangos de la sociedad italiana, tanto que se convirtió en el fotógrafo de la primera corte borbónica y más tarde de la Casa de Saboya. Inmediatamente después del terremoto de 1857, emprendió una expedición a las áreas afectadas en Basilicata, creando así el primer reportaje fotográfico de un terremoto en el mundo.

La mayoría de las fotografías de este terremoto son suyas, aún cuando Robert Mallet, el ingeniero irlandés que estudió este terremoto en el terreno, encargó otra campaña fotográfica a Claude Grillet, en marzo de 1858. Bernoud realizó tres campañas fotográficas más en la misma zona, comenzando respectivamente el 29 de diciembre de 1857, el 12 de enero y el 26 de mayo de 1858.
Bernoud también es conocido por haber inmortalizado a numerosos bandidos después de la unificación de Italia, tanto vivos como muertos. Exhibió una colección de tomas de bandoleros en las ventanas de su taller, en la calle Toledo en Nápoles.

On February 4 is the birthday of
Jean-Baptiste (Alphonse) Bernoud, French photographer born in 1820 in Meximieux.
A pioneer of photography, Bernoud traveled to Italy, where his fame soon reached the high ranks of Italian society, so much so that he became the photographer of the first Bourbon court, and later of the House of Savoy. Immediately after the earthquake of 1857, he undertook an expedition to the affected areas in Basilicata, thus creating the first photographic report of an earthquake in the world.

Most of the photographs of this earthquake are due to him, even if Robert Mallet - the Irish engineer who studied this earthquake on the ground - commissioned another photographic campaign to Claude Grillet, in March 1858. Bernoud conducted three more photographic campaigns to the same area starting respectively December 29, 1857, January 12 and May 26, 1858.
Bernoud is also known for having immortalized numerous brigands after the unification of Italy, both alive and dead. A collection of shots on brigandage was exhibited in the windows of his atelier, in Toledo street in Naples.
He died in 1889.

Sol Libsohn, fotógrafo documental autodidacta estadounidense nacido en 1914 en Harlem, Nueva York.
Después de graduarse en el City College de Nueva York, se unió a la Liga de Cine y Fotografía donde se ganó la vida documentando pinturas. En 1936 cofundó la Liga de Fotografía con Sid Grossman. Libsohn fue un profesor importante en la Liga, así como miembro y líder de numerosos grupos de producción.

Sol Libsohn, American self-taught, documentary photographer born in 1914 in Harlem, New York.
After graduating from City College of New York, he joined the Film and Photo League where he earned his living documenting paintings. In 1936, he co-founded the Photo League with Sid Grossman. Libsohn was an important teacher at the League as well as a member and leader of numerous production groups.

In addition to freelance work for numerous magazines, he also was employed by Roy Stryker for the documentary project of Standard Oil Company of New Jersey (later Exxon), the Federal Art Project, and Princeton University, where he taught art and photography to disadvantaged youth in the Summer Program. Libsohn was a personal acquaintance of Romana Javitz, head of The New York Public Library’s Picture Collection from 1929 to 1968, who sought out his work for the Library.
He died in 2001.
