Adolfo Serra es un dibujante e ilustrador español, que se licenció en Publicidad y Relaciones Públicas.
Cambió el lápiz de redactor publicitario por el de dibujo en la Escuela de ArteDiez de Madrid, y desde entonces ha ilustrado más de 50 libros.
Su proyecto final de la escuela de arte fue un álbum ilustrado que narraba la historia de «Caperucita Roja» sólo a través de la ilustración. Ese libro mudo fue a caer en manos de un editor y, desde entonces, no han parado de llamarle y hacerle encargos.
Tiene un estilo de ilustración muy colorista, y prefiere el trabajo con tinta, ya que disfruta del hecho de que no sea fácil de controlar, produciendo resultados no tan definidos, gracias a lo cual todo queda un poco más abierto a la interpretación y la imaginación del lector.
"Una historia diferente" es una poética historia que nos habla de la diferencia y el respeto, que nos propone un viaje interior por los sentimiento y emociones de dos personajes que aparentemente no tienen nada en común. Las ilustraciones de Adolfo Serra nos envuelven en una atmósfera expresionista repleta de detalles, mezcla de técnicas que nos muestran el profundo universo interior de sus protagonistas. Una deliciosa metáfora para hablar de nuestras diferencias y similitudes, miedos y fortalezas.

«Es uno de mis primeros proyectos en los que además de ilustrar, escribo. También fue un reto, intentar darle un giro al texto, como si no fuera mío a la hora de ilustrarlo. Este relato sería totalmente distinto si en lugar de animales hubiera niños, por ejemplo y creo que perdería gran parte de su magia. En realidad es un texto pequeño, casi como un poema, pero de alguna forma, al ser tan sencillo, te obliga a parar y pensar.»
«Este proyecto comenzó hace mucho tiempo en Sàrmede, Italia. Cuando me estaba formando como ilustrador decidí acudir a uno de los talleres de Linda Wolfsgruber en la Scuola Internazionale d’Illustrazione de Sàrmede. Allí aprendí la técnica de la monotipia y conocí a un montón de ilustradores italianos que hoy son amigos. El tema del curso era “Animali brutti, historia bella” (Animales feos, historias bellas). De camino al taller, viajando, se me ocurrió la idea de jugar con un rinoceronte y un escarabajo rinoceronte y la percepción de sí mismos, las comparaciones y diferencias. Cómo uno se percibe, cómo percibe a los demás y cómo los otros nos ven.»

Adolfo Serra is a Spanish draftsman and illustrator, who graduated in Advertising and Public Relations.
He changed his pencil from advertising editor to drawing at the ArteDiez School in Madrid, and has since illustrated more than 50 books.
His final art school project was an illustrated album that told the story of "Little Red Riding Hood" through illustration alone. That mute book was to fall into the hands of a publisher and, since then, they have not stopped calling him and ordering from him.
He has a very colorful illustration style, and prefers working with ink, since he enjoys the fact that it is not easy to control, producing not so defined results, thanks to which everything is a little more open to interpretation and the reader's imagination.
"A Different Story" is a poetic story that tells us about difference and respect, which proposes an inner journey through the feelings and emotions of two characters who apparently have nothing in common. Adolfo Serra's illustrations wrap us in an expressionist atmosphere full of details, a mixture of techniques that show us the deep inner universe of its protagonists. A delicious metaphor to talk about our differences and similarities, fears and strengths.
«This is one of my first projects in which, in addition to illustrating, I write. It was also a challenge, trying to give a twist to the text, as if it were not mine, when illustrating it. This story would be totally different if instead of animals there were children, for example, and I think it would lose much of its magic. It is actually a small text, almost like a poem, but somehow, because it is so simple, it forces you to stop and think.»
«This project started a long time ago in Sàrmede, Italy. When I was training as an illustrator I decided to attend one of Linda Wolfsgruber's workshops at the Scuola Internazionale d'Illustrazione in Sàrmede. There I learned the technique of monotype and met a lot of Italian illustrators who are now friends. The theme of the course was "Animali brutti, historia bella" (Ugly animals, beautiful stories). On the way to the workshop, traveling, I came up with the idea of playing with a rhinoceros and a rhinoceros beetle and the perception of themselves, the comparisons and differences. Issa Watanabe es una ilustradora peruana nacida en Lima en 1980.
Hija del poeta Jose Watanabe y de la ilustradora Gredna Landolt, creció rodeada de arte y desde muy pequeña se acostumbró a dar vida a personajes y a narrar historias con ellos.
Estudió Letras y Bellas Artes. Ha dirigido proyectos para promover la integración social a través del arte. Ha recibido varios reconocimientos, y ha sido invitada internacional de honor para dar conferencias y talleres en la Feria de libro de Guadalajara, en México, Colombia, Chile, Ecuador, Argentina y España.
La Organización Internacional de la Migración (OIM) estima que en el mundo hay 258 millones de inmigrantes, lo que representa casi un 4% del total de la humanidad. El número de personas que huyen de la guerra, la persecución y los conflictos superó los 70 millones de 2018, según el último informe de la Agencia de la ONU para los Refugiados. Este libro álbum sin palabras narra con imágenes de extraordinaria fuerza el viaje de un grupo de animales que dejan atrás un bosque nocturno falto de hojas. Es la historia de una gran y única migración, un viaje en el que se sacrifican cosas, se dejan atrás seres queridos, deben pasar fronteras... Las ilustraciones de Issa Watanabe narran una situación real, sin eufemismos, que conmueve al lector con un relato construido desde lo cotidiano (escenas de la rutina en los campos de refugiados u otras imágenes sobre migraciones que se difunden habitualmente los medios de comunicación) para provocar la reflexión y, ¿por qué no?, promover la empatía y la solidaridad. «En el año 2000 me fui a vivir a Mallorca. Poco después de llegar, se hizo común ver imágenes en las noticias de emigrantes que desembarcaban en las costas de la isla después de arduos viajes a través del Mediterráneo. En su mayor parte, las imágenes de los medios mostraban a la gente convirtiéndose en números, o transformándose en una masa humana sin rostro.
Un día conocí a Abdulai, que había llegado a Palma después de un viaje muy largo desde Bamako, en Malí. Terminó viviendo con nosotros y, durante ese año, no sólo nos enteramos de las duras condiciones que llevaron a Abdulai a despedirse de su familia e iniciar el viaje, sino también de lo que significaba para él tratar de establecerse en un país que no lo quería.
Muchos años después vi las fotografías de Magnus Wennman de niños sirios, "Donde duermen los niños". Las miradas en los rostros de esos niños, algunos en un campamento improvisado en un bosque, me conmovieron profundamente, e hice lo único que podía hacer: dibujar. A este primer dibujo le siguió otro y, poco a poco, empecé a contar una historia sin pensarlo.»

Si hubiera elegido hacer esto último, los niños habrían luchado para contarlo de la misma manera que cuando una historia tan dura y triste es ilustrada con imágenes de fantasía. Los niños empatizan rápidamente con los animales. Además, los animales permiten que la historia sea contada sin mencionar culturas, razas, un grupo étnico en particular, por lo que la historia se vuelve universal.»

Issa Watanabe is a Peruvian illustrator born in Lima in 1980.
Daughter of the poet Jose Watanabe and illustrator Gredna Landolt, she was surrounded by art and from a very young age she got used to giving life to characters and telling stories with them.
She studied literature and fine arts. She has directed projects to promote social integration through art. She has received several awards, and has been an international guest of honor to give conferences and workshops at the Guadalajara Book Fair in Mexico, Colombia, Chile, Ecuador, Argentina and Spain.
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) estimates that there are 258 million immigrants in the world, which represents almost 4% of all humanity. The number of people fleeing war, persecution and conflict surpassed 70 million in 2018, according to the latest report from the UN Refugee Agency. This wordless album book narrates with images of extraordinary force the journey of a group of animals that leave behind a night forest devoid of leaves. It is the story of a great and unique migration, a journey in which things are sacrificed, loved ones are left behind, borders must cross ... Issa Watanabe's illustrations narrate a real situation, without euphemisms, that moves the reader with a narrative constructed from the everyday - scenes from the routine in refugee camps or other images about migrations that are regularly broadcast by the media - to provoke reflection and, why not ?, promote empathy and solidarity. «In the year 2000, I went to live in Mallorca. Soon after arriving, it became common to see images in the news of migrants landing on the island’s shores after arduous journeys across the Mediterranean. For the most part the media images showed people being turned into numbers, or morphing into a faceless human mass.
One day, I met Abdulai, who had arrived in Palma after a very long journey from Bamako in Mali. He ended up living with us and, during that year, not only did we hear of the harsh conditions that led Abdulai to say goodbye to his family and start the journey, but also what it meant for him to try to settle in a country that didn’t want him.
Many years later, I saw Magnus Wennman’s photographs of Syrian children, “Where the Children Sleep”. The looks on those children’s faces, some in an improvised camp in a forest, moved me deeply, and I did the only thing I could do: draw. This first drawing was followed by another one and, little by little, I started telling a story without planning to.»
«Animals allow me to tell the story in a way that human representations couldn’t. If I had chosen to do the latter, children would have struggled to relate in the same way they would when such a hard and sad story is illustrated with images of fantasy. Children empathise quickly with animals. Also, animals allow the story to be told without mentioning cultures, race, a particular ethnic group, so the story becomes universal.»

Carla Grace es una artista autodidacta enamorada de la vida silvestre y las obras de arte de alta calidad.
Nacida en Sudáfrica, Carla ha inmigrado 5 veces y actualmente vive en Australia. Con una infancia que se desarrolló predominantemente en África, pudo experimentar la vida salvaje de una manera que se ha convertido en la base de su visión, donde la vida silvestre se respira a través del arte. "Los animales salvajes siempre fueron parte de nuestras vidas en Kariba (Zimbabwe, África), era tan normal que un elefante caminara por nuestro patio, o que nosotros condujéramos a la sabana por la tarde para ver a las manadas pastando mientras el sol se ponía. Born in South Africa, Carla has immigrated 5 times and currently lives in Australia. With a childhood that was dominantly based in Africa, she was able to experience wildlife in a way that has become the foundation of her vision: Where wildlife breathes through art. "Wild animals were always a part of our lives in Kariba (Zimbabwe, Africa), it was so normal for an elephant to walk through our yard, or for us to drive into the savannah for the afternoon to watch the herds graze as the sun set. Mirko Horvat

Mirko Horvat nació en 1955 en Zdala y empezó a pintar desde muy joven. Su amor por la naturaleza y la pintura lo heredó de su padre Josip Horvat, uno de los primeros pintores naif de la posguerra en la región de Podravina. Su estilo ha evolucionado bajo la influencia de Mijo Kovacic. Helmut Heuberger

Helmut Heuberger fue un dibujante y pintor austríaco nacido en Viena en 1927.
Asistió al instituto de Viena, interrumpido por el servicio militar en el que se desempeñó como artillero antiaéreo. Después del final de la guerra se diplomó y estudió alemán e inglés en la Universidad de Viena. En 1949 se le concedió un doctorado en filosofía. Como miembro de un coro emprendió un viaje a los EE.UU. con una estancia de alrededor de un año. Después de regresar a Viena, trabajó como empleado de banco hasta su jubilación.
Como pintor/dibujante, Heuberger fue autodidacta; pintó desde su juventud y así se financió la mayor parte de sus estudios. En la década de 1960 se involucró más intensamente con la pintura. En 1966 tuvo su primera exposición individual en la Galerie Peithner-Lichtenfels, Viena, que en ese momento era uno de los principales puntos en Viena para los exponentes de la "Escuela Vienesa de Realismo Fantástico", por la que también fue influenciado. Sus temas pictóricos son paisajes, casas o grupos de casas, bodegones y ocasionalmente retratos.
Realizó exposiciones individuales en galerías austriacas y alemanas y también participó en exposiciones en Austria, Europa y en el extranjero.
Murió en 2001.

Helmut Heuberger was an Austrian draftsman and painter, born in Vienna in 1927.
He attended high school in Vienna, interrupted by military service as an anti-aircraft gunner. After the end of the war, Heuberger took his high school diploma and studied German and English at the University of Vienna. In 1949 he was awarded a doctorate in philosophy. As a member of a choir he undertook a trip to the USA with a stay of about 1 year. After returning to Vienna he worked as a bank employee until his retirement.
As a painter/drawer Heuberger was self-taught; he painted since his youth and financed his studies for the most part with it. In the 1960s he became more intensively involved with painting. In 1966 he had his first solo exhibition at the Galerie Peithner-Lichtenfels, Vienna, at that time a leading address in Vienna for exponents of the "Viennese School of Fantastic Realism", from which he was also influenced. His pictorial themes are landscapes, houses or groups of houses, still lifes, occasionally portraits.
He had solo exhibitions in Austrian and German galleries and also participated in exhibitions in Austria, Europe and overseas.
He died in 2001.

Hiroaki Asahara
(Tokio, Japón / Tokyo, Japan, 1944 - 2015)
Hiroaki Asahara nació en Tokio en 1944 y estudió pintura allí durante más de diez años bajo la guía del famoso artista japonés Tatsuya Nakamoto. Llegó a Italia en 1965 y continuó sus estudios en el campo artístico en la Academia de Bellas Artes Albertina (Turín), donde, bajo la dirección de Sandro Chierchi, profundizó en el estudio de las técnicas escultóricas. En los años siguientes, la trayectoria educativa de Hiroaki se orientó hacia el campo de las técnicas gráficas, plásticas y pictóricas. La plenitud del camino educativo ha sido la principal fuente de inspiración de nuestro artista, siempre en busca de nuevas experimentaciones, alimentadas también por los continuos viajes y desplazamientos entre Italia y Japón.

Hiroaki Asahara was born in Tokyo in 1944, and studied painting there for over ten years under the guidance of the famous Japanese artist Tatsuya Nakamoto. He arrived in Italy in 1965 and continued his studies in the artistic field at the Albertina Academy of Fine Arts (Turin), where, under the guidance of Sandro Chierchi, he deepened the study of sculptural techniques. In the following years, Hiroaki's educational career was oriented towards the field of graphic, plastic and pictorial techniques. The fullness of the educational path has been the main source of inspiration for our artist, always in search of new experimentations, fed also by the continuous travels and displacements between Italy and Japan.

Beata Orosz nació y se crió en una familia húngara en Komarno, una hermosa e histórica ciudad de Eslovaquia.
Después de estudiar diseño de moda, Beata estudió diseño de interiores en Budapest, Hungría. Tras trasladarse a Inglaterra en 1999 para seguir desarrollando su carrera, continuó en su búsqueda de la excelencia graduándose con honores de primera clase en la Escuela de Arquitectura, Diseño y Entorno de Construcción de la Universidad de Nottingham Trent.
Abordando regularmente obras de arte por encargo, Beata ha trabajado para una gama de clientes desde coleccionistas privados hasta firmas de diseño de interiores donde el ojo para el detalle y la apreciación arquitectónica son la clave.

Beata Orosz was born and raised in a Hungarian family in Komarno, a beautiful and historic town in Slovakia.
After studying fashion design Beata went on to study interior design in Budapest, Hungary. Upon moving to England in 1999 to further develop her career Beata continued in her pursuit of excellence graduating with first-class honours from the School of Architecture, Design and the Built Environment at Nottingham Trent University.
Regularly addressing commissioned works of art, Beata has worked for a range of clients from private collectors to interior design firms where an eye for detail and architectural appreciation are a key.

«Para producir mis detalladas obras de arte originales, me gusta combinar tres de mis intereses; viajes, animales y fotografía. Al hacerlo, creo mi última pasión: arte de la vida silvestre. Soy autodidacta y vivo en Surrey, Inglaterra.
Mi interés por los animales comenzó pronto y me llevaron a verlos en muchos zoológicos y parques de vida silvestre. Pasé demasiadas horas viendo la vida salvaje en la televisión y tenía un sinfín de libros de animales. A menudo me preguntaba cómo sería ver la vida silvestre en su propio hábitat por mí misma. No fue hasta que tuve un accidente bastante desagradable hace unos años que decidí que no sólo era posible, sino que era hora de hacer algo al respecto.
Elijo trabajar principalmente en grafito, ocasionalmente sumergiéndome en colores pastel o lápiz. Siento que el grafito me permite crear el detalle, la profundidad y toda la gama de texturas que trabajo para conseguir. Creo mi arte con pasión. Siempre comienzo con los ojos, siendo la serie "detrás de la vista" una excepción (véanlos en las galerías), con la esperanza de crear la obra de arte más realista y emotiva que pueda.»

«To produce my detailed original artwork I like to combine three of my interests; travel, animals and photography. In doing so I create my ultimate passion - Wildlife Art. I am self-taught and based in Surrey, England.
My interest in animals started early and I was taken to see them in many zoos and wildlife parks. I spent far too many hours watching wildlife on tv and had endless animal books. I often wondered what it would be like to see wildlife in it’s own habitat for myself. It wasn't until I had a rather nasty accident a few years ago that I decided it was not only possible but time to actually do something about it!
I choose to work mainly in graphite, occasionally dipping into colour pastel or pencil. I feel graphite allows me to create the detail, depth and whole range of textures I work towards achieving. I create my art with a passion. I always start with the eyes, the ‘behind sight’ series being an exception (see them in the galleries), in the hope of creating the most realistic and emotive artwork I can.»

«Fue hace muchos años cuando descubrí que tenía un mínimo interés en crear imágenes únicas, pero algo no estaba del todo bien. Mi pasión por el arte comenzó desde los 7 años y estudié arte durante toda mi carrera escolar. Dejé mi pasión y talento latentes durante unos años una vez que dejé la escuela, hasta que un día cogí mi lápiz favorito y una sensación de serenidad me invadió. En ese momento me di cuenta de que amaba esta cosa llamada arte.
Con una visión en mente, mi determinación y enfoque me permitieron deshacerme de todos mis malos hábitos, adaptar mi estilo de vida, adoptar disciplinas más fuertes y siento con fuerza que estoy en el camino de un gran logro.
Muchas horas de práctica y habiendo sido bendecido con el regalo de mi hijo, continúo viviendo mi pasión y explorando las maravillosas oportunidades que una carrera en el arte puede proporcionar.»

«It was many years ago when I discovered that I had a modicum of interest in creating unique images but something was not quite right. My passion for art began from as young as 7 years old and I studied art throughout my school career. I allowed my passion and talent to lay dormant for a few years once I had left school until one day I picked up my favourite pencil and a sense of serenity washed over me. At this moment I realised that I loved this thing called art.
With a vision in mind, my determination and focus allowed me to wrinkle out all my bad habits, adapt my lifestyle, adopt stronger disciplines and I feel strongly I am on a path to great accomplishment.
