El 22 de Diciembre es el cumple de

Trude Fleischmann, fotógrafa estadounidense nacida en austria en 1895. Tras convertirse en una notable fotógrafa en la Viena de los años '20, se trasladó a los Estados Unidos estableciendo allí sus negocios en 1940.
Pasó un semestre estudiando historia del arte en París, y luego tres años de fotografía en el "Lehr und Versuchsanstalt für Photographie und Reproduktionsverfahren", en Viena. Posteriormente trabajó un corto período como aprendiz en el Taller d'Ora, de Dora Kallmus y durante más tiempo para el fotógrafo Hermann Schieberth. En 1919 se unió a la Sociedad Fotográfica de Viena. En 1920 abrió su propio estudio cerca del Ayuntamiento de la ciudad. Su trabajo fotografiando celebridades del teatro y la música fue publicado en periódicos tales como Die Bühne, Moderne Welt, 'Welt und Mode y Uhu. En 1925 tomó una serie de desnudos de la bailarina Claire Bauroff que la policía confiscó cuando fueron desplegadas en el Teatro de Berlín, con lo cual alcanzó fama internacional. Murió en 1990.

Gotthard Schuh, fotógrafo alemán nacido en Berlin en 1897. En 1927 se trasladó a París, donde continuó experimentando con la fotografía. También hizo retratos de figuras tan eminentes como Picasso, Braque y Léger. 
En 1935 se le diagnosticó esclerosis múltiple, pero continuó trabajando como fotoperiodista, y en 1936 también empezó a colaborar con Manuel Gasser, periodista y escritor, con quien fundó la Fotostiftung Schweiz en 1971. En 1938 Schuh zarpó de Génova en un viaje a Indonesi; el resultado de esta experiencia fundamental fue el libro Inseln der Götter, publicado en 1941 y más tarde reeditado y traducido a varios idiomas. 
Murió en 1969.

George Rose, fotógrafo y escritor estadounidense nacido en 1952, cuya carrera ha incluido el trabajo para la Liga Nacional de Fútbol (NFL), la revista Rolling Stone, Time, Life, Newsweek, Sports Illustrated, USA Today y Los Angeles Times. Ha pasado 20 años en la industria del vino de California, ocupando cargos de relaciones públicas prominentes, mientras acumulaba una gran cantidad de fotografías premiadas de comida y vino.
Graduado de la Ganesha High School en Pomona, California, la carrera fotográfica y en periódicos de George Rose comenzó a principios de los 70s cuando trabajaba como mensajero para el Pomona Progress-Bulletin. El 24 de Diciembre es el cumple de

Damon Winter, fotógrafo estadounidense nacido en 1974, especializado en fotografía documental, editorial y de viajes. Recibió el permio Pulitzer en 2009. 
Damon se crió en St. Thomas, United States Virgin Islands. Obtuvo su graduación en ciencias ambientales de la Universidad de Columbia y trabajó para el Dallas Morning News, Newsweek, Magnum Photos, The Ventura County Star y The Indianapolis Star. Su ensayo fotográfico sobre los abusos sexuales a víctimas en Alaska occidental fue finalista para el premio Pulitzar en 2005. 
Se incorporó al New York Times en 2007 después de tres años como fotógrafo del equipo de Los Angeles Times. Actualmente vive en Brooklyn.

Dirck Storm Halstead, fotoperiodista, editor y redactor de El Periodista Digital una revista de fotoperiodismo online. Nació en 1963 en Huntington, Nueva York.
Halstead se inició en el fotoperiodismo mientras estaba en la secundaria. A los 17 años se convirtió en el fotógrafo de combate más joven de la revista Life cubriendo la guerra civil guatemalteca. Después de asistir a Haverford College, pasó a trabajar en UPI durante más de 15 años. Durante la guerra de Vietnam fue jefe del departamento de fotografía de UPI en Saigón.
Time lo designó como fotógrafo Senior en la Casa Blanca. En 1972 aceptó un contrato con ellos, que se prolongó durante los siguientes 29 años. Helena Christensen, modelo y fotógrafa danesa nacida en 1968, principalmente reconocida por su trabajo con Victoria's Secret y por haber sido elegida reina de belleza. Saltó a la fama en 1986 obteniendo el título de Miss Dinamarca a los dieciocho años de edad, y representando a su país en el concurso de Miss Universo del mismo año. Poco después, abandonó su hogar para mudarse a París, a trabajar como modelo.

Chris Hill, fotógrafo de Belfast, Irlanda del Norte, nació en 1946.
Aunque se preparó para el negocio de ropa de la familia, desarrolló una temprana pasión por la fotografía a la edad de 14 años, a menudo tomando fotos de las bandas en los bailes de la escuela y vendiendo las copias a sus amigos al día siguiente.

Su trabajo se ha exhibido en más de 300 museos y galerías, incluída una muestra individual en el Smithsonian Institute, Washington, la Casa de la Fotografía en Moscú, Rusia, y también en Chicago, Rochester, Toronto y Nueva York.

Carl De Keyzer, fotógrafo belga contemporáneo nacido en 1958. Fue nominado para la agencia Magnum en 1990, asociado en 1992 y miembro pleno en 1994.
Su carrera como fotógrafo freelance comenzó en 1982. Por aquél entonces enseñaba en la Real Academia de Bellas Artes en Gante, Bélgica. Fue co-fundador de la XYZ-Photography Gallery.
Ha expuesto su obra en muchas galerías europeas y recibido varios reconocimientos, incluyendo el Book Award en el Festival de Arles, el Eugene Smith Award en 1990 y el Kodak Award en 1992. Entre sus temas se incluyen el colapso de la Unión Soviética y la India. Robert Koch Gallery describe su trabajo como una investigación de «grupos sociales marginados y la construcción de retratos psicológicos acríticos que buscan la familiaridad con los "otros"». Actualmente vive en Gante y continúa enseñando.

Andreas Bernhard Lyonel Feininger, fotógrafo estadounidense y escritor sobre técnicas fotográficas nacido en 1906. Es conocido por sus dinámicas escenas en blanco y negro de Manhattan y el estudio de las estructuras de los objetos naturales.
Feininger creció y fue educado como arquitecto en Alemania, donde su padre pintaba y enseñaba en la Staatliches Bauhaus. En 1936, renunció a la arquitectura y se trasladó a Suecia, donde se dedicó a la fotografía. Antes de la Segunda Guerra Mundial, en 1939, Feininger emigró a los EE.UU., donde se estableció como fotógrafo independiente. Lawrence Schiller, productor, director, escritor y fotógrafo estadounidense nacido en 1936.
Schiller se crió en San Diego, California. Tras asistir al Pepperdine College de Los Angeles, trabajó para las revistas LIFE, Paris Match, The Sunday Times, Time, Newsweek, Stern y The Saturday Evening Post como fotoperiodista. Publicó su primer libro, LSD, en 1966. 
Desde entonces ha publicado 11 libros que se convirtieron en Best Sellers internacionales. 
Ha dirigido 7 películas y miniseries para televisión, entre ellas "La Canción del Verdugo", basada en la novela de Norman Mailer y protagonizada por Tommy Lee Jones.

Neil Leifer, fotógrafo y cineasta estadounidense nacido en 1942, conocido principalmente por su trabajo en la familia de revistas Time Inc.
Cuando era un niño en la ciudad de Nueva York, Leifer conseguía entrada gratuita a los juegos de Nueva York Giants empujando las sillas de ruedas de los clientes con discapacidad en el estadio. Usando su boleto gratis y una cámara, conseguía posicionarse en el campo con los fotógrafos.
Leifer estudió fotografía en Henry Street Settlement en su juventud.
También era conocido por correr riesgos. Para la pelea por el título de los pesos pesados en 1966, entre Cleveland Williams y Muhammad Ali, colocó una cámara en las vigas del Astrodome de Houston con el fin de conseguir una foto de la lona cuando el vencedor noqueara a su rival. On December 22 is the birthday of

Trude Fleischmann, American photographer born in Austria in 1895. After becoming a remarkable photographer in Vienna in the 20s, she moved to the United States establishing businesses there in 1940.
She spent a semester studying art history in Paris, and then three years of photography in the "Lehr und für Photographie und Versuchsanstalt Reproduktionsverfahren" in Vienna. Later she worked for a short period as an apprentice in the Dora Kallmus' Workshop d'Ora, and longer for the photographer Hermann Schieberth. In 1919 she joined the Photographic Society of Vienna. In 1920 she opened her own studio near City Hall. Her work photographing celebrities of theater and music was published in newspapers such as Die Bühne, Moderne Welt, 'Welt und Mode and Uhu. In 1925 she took a series of nude photographs of the dancer Claire Bauroff police confiscated when they were deployed in the theater in Berlin. With this she achieved international fame. She died in 1990.

Gotthard Schuh, German photographer born in Berlin in 1897. After an academic background in painting, became interested in photography, focusing mainly on everyday life in Central Europe and Italy. In 1927 he moved to Paris where he continued to experiment with photography. He also made portraits of eminent figures such as Picasso, Braque and Leger.
In 1935 he was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, but continued to work as a photojournalist, and in 1936 also began collaborating with Manuel Gasser, journalist and writer. They founded the Fotostiftung Schweiz in 1971. In 1938 Schuh sailed from Genoa on a trip to Indonesia. The result of this fundamental experience was the book Inseln der Götter, published in 1941 and later republished and translated into several languages.
He died in 1969.

He has spent 20 years in the California wine industry, holding prominent public relations positions while amassing a significant body of award-winning food and wine photography.
A graduate of Ganesha High School in Pomona, California, George Rose’s newspaper and photographic career began in the early 1970s when he worked as a copy messenger for the Pomona Progress-Bulletin. In 1974, Rose was hired as a staff photographer at the nearby Claremont Courier. Following a 1977 staff photographer stint at the Louisville Courier-Journal, Rose moved back to Southern California to become a staff photographer for the Los Angeles Times.
His freelance photography from 1985-1991 was featured in Rolling Stone, Time, Life, Newsweek, Sports Illustrated, USA Today and the Los Angeles Times. Rose is a recipient of a World Press Award for his aerial photograph of the 1987 Whittier Narrows (California) earthquake.

On December 24 is the birthday of

Damon Winter, American photographer born in 1974 who specializes in documentary, editorial, and travel photography. He received a Pulitzer Prize in 2009.
He grew up in St. Thomas in the United States Virgin Islands. He earned a bachelor's degree in environmental science from Columbia University and worked for The Dallas Morning News, Newsweek, Magnum Photos, The Ventura County Star and The Indianapolis Star. His photo essay on sexual abuse victims in western Alaska was a finalist for the 2005 Pulitzer Prize for feature photography. 
Mr. Winter joined The New York Times in 2007 after three years as a staff photographer at The Los Angeles Times. Mr. Winter lives in Brooklyn.

Dirck Storm Halstead, photojournalist, and editor and publisher of The Digital Journalist an online photojournalism magazine. He was born in 1963 in Huntington, New York.
Halstead started in photojournalism while in high school. At age 17, he became Life magazine's youngest combat photographer covering the Guatemalan Civil War. After attending Haverford College, he went on to work at UPI for more than 15 years. During the Vietnam War he was UPI's picture bureau chief in Saigon.
Time designated Halstead as their Senior White House Photographer. In 1972 he accepted a contract with them which lasted for the next 29 years. Halstead was one of the six photographers who accompanied Richard Nixon on his historic trip to China in 1972. His photographs have appeared on 47 Time covers, more than any other photographer. During this period he also worked as a "Special Photographer" on films to produce photographs used in advertising materials for the major commercial studios. The films he worked on included, Goodfellas, Memphis Belle, Shaft, Black Rain, Dragon, Dune, Conan the Barbarian series, Greystoke, and Cliffhanger.

On December 25 is the birthday of

Helena Christensen, Danish model and photographer born in 1968, primarily known for her work with Victoria's Secret and for being chosen beauty queen. Soon after, he left home and moved to Paris, working as a model.
Christensen is also a professional photographer, and his photos appeared in magazines such as Marie Claire and ELLE. Her exhibition "A Quiet Story", organized by Jim Cook, was first introduced in Rotterdam in 2006. The gallery Chanel Tokyo's NEXUS also presented this exhibition in 2010.

Although training to go into the family’s clothing business, he developed an early passion for photography at the age of 14, often taking photographs of bands at school dances and selling prints to his friends the next day.
He once photographed The Beatles and sold the pictures around the local schools, making himself “a small fortune”
He was educated at the Royal Belfast Academical Institution Prep school Inchmarlo and then RBAI itself.
In 1978 he left the family firm to set up Christopher Hill Photographic, specialising in sports and theatre photography, and later all aspects of commercial photography including advertising, fashion, still life and architectural.
But it is in his landscape photography that Hill has really made a name for himself, regularly shooting assignments for the National Trust and the Northern Ireland Tourist Board.

On December 26 is the birthday of

Marilyn Bridges (born 1948), American photographer noted for her fine art black and white aerial photographs of extraordinary ancient and modern landscapes. 
She has photographed in over 20 countries, including Peru, Mexico, France, Britain, Egypt, Greece, Turkey, Australia, Namibia, Indonesia and India.
Bridges is a licensed pilot and lives in New York. Her work has been exhibited in over 300 museums and galleries, including solo exhibitions at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington DC, the Moscow House of Photography in Russia, and also in Chicago, Rochester, Toronto, and New York.

David Robert Mullen, American artist and photographer born in 1952. His art spans a wide range of styles from realist, to abstraction, to surrealist. David Mullen has practiced fine art photography for over 35 years. He views photography as a great printmaking art and has worked in black and white processes such as Van Dyke brown, platinum, silver gelatin and digital formats. For the last seventeen years, Mullen has dedicated his time to black and white and color photography as well as painting in water media such as watercolor, gouache, and acrylics. Mullen has won numerous awards for his work.

On December 27 is the birthday of

Carl De Keyzer, contemporary Belgian photographer born in 1958. He was nominated for the Magnum agency in 1990, associate professor in 1992 and full member in 1994.
De Keyzer's freelance career began in 1982, at which time he also taught at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts, Ghent, Belgium. During this time, he co-founded the XYZ-Photography Gallery. He has exhibited his work in many European galleries and has received several awards, including the Book Award from the Arles Festival, the W. Eugene Smith Award (1990) and the Kodak Award (1992). Major subjects in his worked have included the collapse of Soviet Union and India. Robert Koch gallery describes his work as investigating "marginalized social groups and constructs uncritical psychological portraits which work to familiarize the 'other.'" He currently lives in Ghent and continues to teach.

Feininger grew up and was educated as an architect in Germany, where his father painted and taught, at Staatliches Bauhaus. In 1936, he gave up architecture and moved to Sweden, where he focused on photography. In advance of World War II, in 1939, Feininger immigrated to the U.S. where he established himself as a freelance photographer. In 1943 he joined the staff of Life magazine, an association that lasted until 1962.
Feininger became famous for his photographs of New York. Other frequent subjects among his works were science and nature, as seen in bones, shells, plants, and minerals in the images of which he often stressed their structure. Rarely did he photograph people or make portraits.
He died in 1999.

Today, December 28, is the birthday of

Neil Leifer, photographer and filmmaker born in 1942, known mainly for his work in the Time Inc. family of magazines.
As a boy in New York City, Leifer would gain free admission to New York Giants games by pushing the wheelchairs of handicapped patrons into the stadium. Using his free ticket and a camera, he would then position himself on the field with the photographers.
Leifer studied photography at Henry Street Settlement as a youth.
Leifer was also known for taking risks. For the 1966 heavyweight title fight between Cleveland Williams and Muhammad Ali, he placed a camera in the rafters of the Houston Astrodome in order to get a shot of the canvas when the victor knocked out his competition. It has been said that it is the only photo Neil Leifer took himself that is hanging in his house, also he regards this as his favorite photograph from a 40-year professional career.
