Dedico esta ultima entrega del año de la serie a una selección de rinocerontes de artistas que ya han pasado por el blog. Se trata de piezas nuevas y material que había quedado atrás en selecciones previas. Además, unos cuantos grabados antiguos y láminas clásicas.
I dedicate this last post of the year in this series to a selection of rhinos by artists that has been already published in the blog. There are new pieces and old ones left behind in previous selections. Besides a few vintage plates and antique engravings.

Adriaen Collaert
Adriaen Collaert fue un diseñador y grabador flamenco nacido entre 1555 y 1565.
De acuerdo con el RKD en 1580 se convirtió en wijnmeester del Gremio de San Lucas. El título de wijnmeester estaba reservado para los hijos de los miembros, y él era el hijo de Jan Collaert I y Anna van der Heijden. Se casó con Justa Galle, la hija del hombre para el que trabajaba, Philip Galle. También trabajó para Gerard de Jode (donde hizo impresiones a partir de obras de Maerten de Vos), Eduard Hoeswinckel y Hans van Luyck. Quadrupeds - Two elephants and a rhino
Adriaen Collaert was a Flemish designer and engraver born between 1555 and 1565. According to the RKD in 1580 he became wijnmeester of the Guild of St. Luke. The title wijnmeester was reserved for sons of members, and he was the son of Jan Collaert I and Anna van der Heijden. He married Justa Galle, the daughter of the man he worked for, Philip Galle. He also worked for Gerard de Jode (where he made prints after Maerten de Vos), Eduard Hoeswinckel and Hans van Luyck. After having learnt the principles of the art in his own country, he visited Italy for improvement, where he passed some years. On his return to Flanders, he engraved a great number of plates, executed in a neatly finished style, but with a certain degree of dryness. His drawing is correct, and his heads expressive. He sometimes marked his plates with a cipher.
He died at Antwerp in 1618.

Francis Barlow (c 1626 -. 1704) fue un pintor, grabador e ilustrador Inglés.
La primera gran obra de Barlow fue la ilustración (a través de 12 láminas) de Theophila (1652), de Edward Benlowe .
Desde alrededor de 1653 Barlow trabajó en Londres como pintor de animales, aves, y la vida del campo.
En términos de composición, sus pinturas son débiles, tendiendo a ser llenado con los animales que representaba sucesivamente. Sin embargo, la mayoría de los elementos de sus cuadros están muy bien observados.

Jan Griffier (ca 1652-1718) fue un pintor Edad de Oro holandesa que estuvo activo en Inglaterra, donde fue admitido en la Compañía de Londres del pintor Stainers en 1677.
Griffier nació en Amsterdam y aprendió a pintar paisajes y a grabar con Roelant Roghman.
Produjo vistas de paisajes de Renania, así como del campo inglés, y regresó a los Países Bajos una década después, c.1695, pero fue contratado durante al menos dos décadas en Inglaterra, donde trabajó para el pintor holandés Jan Looten (c.1618 - c.1681). Griffier's work as a draughtsman reflects his training by Roghman; as an etcher, he is remembered for a series of plates of birds after Francis Barlow.

Robert Jacob Gordon, explorador holandés, soldado, artista, naturalista y lingüista de ascendencia escocesa, nacido en 1743.
Realizó más expediciones que ningún otro explorador del s.XVIII en África del Sur. De los seis viajes que emprendió, sólo cuatro, entre 1777 y 1786 fueron cubiertos con diarios que se descubrieron en 1964. Murió en 1795.

Robert Jacob Gordon, Dutch explorer, soldier, artist, naturalist and linguist of Scottish descent born in 1743.
He went on more expeditions than any other 18th-century explorer of southern Africa. Of the six journeys he undertook, only four between 1777 and 1786 are covered by journals discovered in 1964. He died in 1795.

Friedrich Wilhelm Kuhnert fue un pintor, autor e ilustrador alemán nacido en 1865, que se especializó en imágenes de animales.
Después del final de su aprendizaje técnico-comercial a la edad de 17, Kuhnert fue estudiante becado en la Universidad de Arte de Berlín de 1883 a 1887. Desde su hogar en Berlín, se embarcó en viajes a Escandinavia, Egipto, África Oriental e India para hacer estudios de paisaje y animales. Su motivo favorito era el león africano. En 1901 Kuhnert fue ilustrador del libro del zoólogo Johann Wilhelm de Haacke "Vida animal en la Tierra". En 1903 se convirtió en uno de los muchos artistas seleccionados para proporcionar ilustraciones y tarjetas comerciales de diseño para la empresa de chocolate de Colonia Stollwerck. "Nashorn / Rinoceronte / Rhinoceros"
Friedrich Wilhelm Kuhnert was a German painter, author and illustrator born in 1865, who specialized in animal images.
After the end of his technical-commercial apprenticeship at the age of 17, Kuhnert was a scholarship student at the Berlin University of the Arts from 1883 to 1887. From his home in Berlin, he embarked on travels to Scandinavia, Egypt, East Africa and India to make landscape and animal studies. His favorite motif was the African lion. In 1901 Kuhnert was the illustrator for zoologist Johann Wilhelm Haacke's book Animal Life on Earth. In 1903, he became one of the many artists selected to provide illustrations and design trading cards for the Cologne chocolate company, Stollwerck. He also provided some illustrations for the 1900 edition of Brehms Tierleben.
He died in 1926.
