José Cuneo Perinetti

Nace el 11 de setiembre de 1887 en Montevideo. Sus primeros estudios los realiza con Carlos María Herrera en 1906. Viaja por primera vez a Turín en 1907 a estudiar en el taller de Anton María Mucchi, realizando paisajes de Italia que expone a su regreso en 1910. En su segundo viaje a Europa estudia con Anglada Camarasa y Van Dongen.
En 1917 estudia en la Grande Chaumiere de París, se interesa en la pintura de Cézanne y Gauguin. Regresa al año siguiente y da comienzo a su etapa de pintura planista realizando una serie de retratos y paisajes de la ciudad de Melo.
He was born on September 11, 1887 in Montevideo. His first studies were with Carlos María Herrera in 1906. He travels to Turin for the first time in 1907 to study in Anton Maria Mucchi's workshop, painting landscapes of Italy that he exhibits on his return in 1910. On his second trip to Europe he studies with Anglada Camarasa and Van Dongen.
In 1917 he studied at the Grande Chaumiere in Paris, and became interested in the painting of Cézanne and Gauguin. He returns the following year and begins his stage of Planistic painting by making a series of portraits and landscapes of the city of Melo.

En 1927 en Europa conoce la obra de Chaim Soutine atrayéndole las deformaciones expresionistas y el uso de la diagonal, lo que marcará su obra futura. Expone los paisajes de ese período de Cagnes Sur Mer en la Galería Zak y a su regreso a Montevideo, en el Ateneo. A partir de 1930 pasa temporadas en Florida y en Melo y comienza la serie de ranchos, lunas y acuarelas del campo uruguayo.
En 1942 obtiene el Gran Premio de Pintura del Salón Oficial, el Primer Premio en el Salón Nacional de Acuarelas y el Premio de Pintura en la Bienal Nacional de Arte.

En 1961 expone una retrospectiva de sus 50 años como artista, pero su vida artística llegará a abarcar 70 años de producción. A partir de 1963 el reconocimiento de su obra alcanza importantes distinciones dentro y fuera de fronteras.
Es premiado en la X Bienal de San Pablo en 1969 y en 1974 recibe el Premio Nacional de Pintura de Cagnes su Mer. Vuelve a Europa en 1976, donde fallece el 19 de julio de 1977 en Bonn.

Damián Ibarguren Gauthier es un pintor y muralista uruguayo. Nace en Fray Bentos (Río Negro, Uruguay) en 1970. Vive la mayor parte de su infancia de 1975 a 1980 en Argentina. En un principio se establece con su abuela en Paraná y luego se trasladan a Buenos Aires (San Justo) donde concurre a los primeros años escolares.

De 1980 a 1985 reside con su familia en Ronneby, Suecia, donde recibe las primeras clases de dibujo y pintura de su padre, también pintor. Participa además en varios talleres de pintura del ámbito escolar. El gusto por el arte como parte de la rutina familiar, lo acercaron sin lugar a dudas a la pintura.
En 1985, luego de la restauración de la democracia, regresa a Fray Bentos. En 1990 se traslada a Montevideo para ingresar a la Facultad de Arquitectura. Desde 1993 a la fecha trabaja como dibujante técnico, modelador 3D y animador.

Mis cuadros surgen en la mayoría de algún recuerdo, alguna charla, alguna anécdota, alguna foto. Algo que me queda sonando en la cabeza durante mucho tiempo y de repente PUM explota una imagen en mi mente y en ese momento me tengo que tirar contra el cartón y hacerlo, dibujarlo.»
«Most of the things I do, I do on impulse of inspiration, cooking, washing the dishes, playing with the kids, painting. For everything I have to be inspired, otherwise I don't do it.
My paintings arise mostly from some memory, some talk, some anecdote, some photo. Something that stays in my head for a long time and suddenly a picture explodes in my mind and at that moment I have to throw myself against the cardboard and do it, draw it.»

Luego... el tedio de tener que terminar el cuadro, Se pierde el romance, el afecto, la cosa se empieza a complicar, van quedando menos espacios libres, las condicionante de lo colores, el no saber que color poner, ponerlo y ver que no queda bien, que no tiene la gracia que tenia cuando arranque la relación, que no me gusta, que al final para que pinto... Pero superando la amargura, la lucha diaria cuerpo a cuerpo, al final el cuadro se termina, nos miramos, el ya no es aquel a quien quería cuando arranco todo, cambiamos el y yo, pienso siempre que es el ultimo, que nunca mas voy a poder pintar.
Entonces viene el periodo entre cuadros (periodo que mi mujer odia, pues ando rabioso, amargado, molesto) hasta que de repente una mañana, salto de la cama antes del amanecer y estoy pintando de nuevo.»

Nace en Buenos Aires en 1931; a la edad de 5 años, junto a toda su familia, se traslada a la ciudad de Carmelo (Colonia, Uruguay). A la edad de 16 años vuelven a mudarse, esta vez a Montevideo, donde se nacionaliza uruguayo. Desde muy joven muestra destreza y vocación por las artes y por la pintura en particular.
En el año 1959 con 28 años de edad ingresa al Taller Torres García y participa de todas las muestras colectivas de dicho taller desde su ingreso hasta 1963. Sus maestros fueron, sucesivamente, Guillermo Fernández y José Gurvich.
He was born in Buenos Aires in 1931; at the age of 5, together with his whole family, he moved to the city of Carmelo (Colonia, Uruguay). "Constructivo / Constructive", 1973
En 1973 decide emigrar definitivamente a la Palestina Ocupada, después de haber vivido allí de 1963 a 1966 y se instala en el Kibutz Guivat Hashlosha. A partir de entonces su obra se internacionaliza y comienza a exponer una gran cantidad de muestras colectivas e individuales en diversas ciudades, Tel Aviv, Montevideo, Toronto, Montreal, Barcelona y Pamplona entre otras.
In 1973 he decides to emigrate permanently to Occupied Palestine, after having lived there from 1963 to 1966 and settles in Kibbutz Guivat Hashlosha. From then on, his work became international and he began to exhibit a large number of collective and individual shows in various cities, including Tel Aviv, Montevideo, Toronto, Montreal, Barcelona and Pamplona.

Por su larga trayectoria fuera del país, se ve influenciado también por otras vertientes del arte contemporáneo, particularmente las formulaciones de Klee, Kandinsky y el polimaterismo de Kurt Schwitters y Robert Rauschenberg.
En el año 2003 due seleccionado por el museo de Jerusalén, en la Palestina Ocupada, para participar de un video para el centro de Arte Moderno.
Because of his long career outside the country, he is also influenced by other aspects of contemporary art, particularly the formulations of Klee, Kandinsky and the Polimaterism of Kurt Schwitters and Robert Rauschenberg.
In 2003 he was selected by the Museum of Jerusalem, in the Occupied Palestine, to participate in a video for the Center for Modern Art.
