Oliver Rath, fotógrafo alemán nacido en 1978 en Heidelberg. Llevó adelante un fotoblog desde 2009 mostrando imágenes de su vida, así como retratos, moda y fotografía de desnudos.
Creció en Friburgo. Sus primeros intentos como productor musical comenzaron a la edad de 20 años. Como DJ trabajó bajo el nombre de Al Kapone.
Como ganador de la Red Bull Music Academy 2001 en Nueva York, descubrió su interés por la fotografía. Fue autodidacta como fotógrafo. Desde 2010 vivió y trabajó principalmente en Berlín, donde abrió una galería para fotografía y arte moderno en 2012.
Las imágenes de Rath van desde instantáneas hasta trabajos conceptuales. Dinamismo, provocación, humor visual y espectaculares puestas en escena caracterizan sus cuadros. Sus imágenes, a menudo provocativas, muestran a las celebridades, la escena y modelos de Berlín con motivos excesivos, perdidos y, al mismo tiempo, alegres y de aspecto eufórico. On April 14 is the birthday of
Oliver Rath, German photographer born in 1978 in Heidelberg. He ran a photoblog since 2009 and showed pictures of his life as well as portrait, fashion and nude photography.
He grew up in Freiburg im Breisgau. His first attempts as a music producer began at the age of 20 years. As a DJ he was active under the name Al Kapone.
As a winner of the Red Bull Music Academy 2001 in New York, he discovered his interest in photography. He was self-taught as a photographer. Since 2010 he lived and worked mainly in Berlin, where he opened a gallery for photography and modern art in 2012.
Rath's pictures range from snapshots to conceptual works. Dynamism, provocation, visual humor and spectacular stagings characterize his pictures. His often provocative images show celebrities, the Berlin scene and models in excessive, lost and at the same time cheerful and euphoric-looking motifs. He himself described his art by saying "do not be afraid of nothing .. no idea of nothing".
Not infrequently, his models are nude. "Everything that is forbidden and wicked excites me. The pure personality shows up without masks and veils, "said Oliver Rath about his nude photography.

Those are pictures of a maniac. His imagery is infiltrated by codes of urban hedonism, yet ruptured by sometimes prankish, sometimes caustic humour. It is a hard and rough picture language, a language without diplomatic attachments or compromise, but fuelled with unchecked temper and elegant to subtle sense for semantics. He takes everything in that makes a good picture: geometry, contrast, perspective, arrangement. But more than that, he’s a master of those little things, that push a good picture to become an outstanding one. He is the advocate of maximizing impacts. He’ll find the big talk even in the smallest gestures. He might just slam you in the face with a picture. But he might lick your wounds with the very next one. His sense for the right sentiment is without comparison, be it on national or international scale. Call him man of the moment. What do I say? Call him a depicting chronicler of the Zeitgeist. Well, why do I say so much anyway? Just find one of his pictures and call him your new favourite photographer.

Jiří Hanke, Czech documental, portrait and conceptual photographer born in 1944.
deals with long-term, socially focused projects. His photographs have often been inspired by his native town. His oldest closed photographic series is entitled People from Podprůhon 1974–1989 (published in book form in 1995). The historical value of documenting the lifestyle of a vanishing working-class colony was obvious even at the time of its inception. The historically grounded testimonies of human existence at the same time represent a general statement reaching beyond the borders of the given region.

Hanke’s key series Views from the Window of My Flat consists of snapshots taken from 10 September 1981 to 10 January 2003 (published in book form in 1994 and 2013). An old double-portrait of Hanke with his father, whose photographic talent he inherited, led him to the series The Echoes of a Generation (1998). Since 1986, Hanke has extended it by other diptychs or more comprehensive series of portraits of parents and children. A cross-section of his extensive oeuvre, prepared on the occasion of Hanke’s 75th birthday, also includes his other series featuring classic black-and-white images: Paris Fragments, TV Image, Echoes and Periphery.

Pierre Toutain-Dorbec, fotógrafo franco-estadounidense nacido en 1951 en Orbec, Calvados, Francia, cuya autorreflexión se expresa a través de su obra, siempre con énfasis en el humanismo. También es autor, pintor, escultor y editor. Vive y trabaja en Estados Unidos.
Desde muy joven su educación se centró en las artes. Su abuelo Gabriel y su tío Jean eran fotógrafos y artistas. Su madre, Françoise Fontaine, era músico profesional y cantante de ópera. Su educación artística comenzó con su familia, que le enseñó las técnicas tradicionales de dibujo, pintura y escultura. By the end of 1968, encouraged by his uncle and grandfather, he left his hometown Orbec and Paris to pursue a career as a photographer. He has traveled since, photographing and reflecting on the world at large, beginning in Vietnam. Throughout his career Pierre has remained true to his original training, his work is primarily black and white, he still works with traditional film, and he maintains his own darkroom processing his own film and silver gelatins. From 1968 to 1995 Pierre worked as a war correspondent, for both Gamma and Sygma press agencies, and as a freelance photographer, around the world. His work focused mainly on Asia, Southeast Asia and North Africa.
He has published over forty books, exhibited his photographs, drawings, sculptures and paintings throughout Asia, Europe, America, and North Africa.
Pierre also worked in the fashion industry for both Christian Lacroix and Christian Dior, as well as for the movie industry.

Derek Maitland, fotógrafo y fotoperiodista inglés nacido en 1943 en Essex.
Emigró a Australia en 1956. On April 17 is the birthday of
Derek Maitland, English photographer and photojournalist born in 1943 in Essex.
He emigrated to Australia in 1956. Aged 18 he went straight from high school to Channel 7 in Sydney as a trainee journalist and in the following years worked on various newspapers and Channel 10 news. He saved the boat fare to Hong Kong, arriving in the Colony with 25 pounds. A skilled and resourceful reporter, he earned enough to move on to Vietnam, his intended destination when first leaving Australia.
Derek signed with the American Copley News Service and went straight into action. “We were a small legion of gung ho journalists who saw their role in the battlefield among the troops themselves instead of diligently covering the U.S. briefings in Saigon.”
Derek was with a patrol which came across 80 dead soldiers from the 173rd Airborne Battalion which had been ambushed by a hardened group of North Vietnamese regulars. While the bodies were being retrieved the ambushers opened fire again and Derek felt bullets whipping through the undergrowth around him.
A best-selling novel came out of his experiences in Vietnam – The Only War We’ve Got. He said: “It was wrong we went into the war. It was the wrong conflict. It was wrong to do that to the Vietnamese people.”

Back in Australia, Derek went to work for Channel Nine News in Sydney and soon his investigative instincts got him and the station in deep trouble. Derek ran to ground a story very unfavourable to major soap powder manufacturers and Nine baulked at putting it to air for practical and commercial reasons. Derek quit Nine, took the story to the ABC where it was aired to cause maximum impact, and the outcome was the biggest public enquiry into the Australian commercial broadcasting industry.
In London, Derek worked for the BBC television news service as a reporter/producer. In 1984, during the Tory Party conference in Brighton, the IRA detonated a bomb inthe hotel where Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher was staying. Derek was the duty producer at the time and rushed to the blast scene. The police tried to hold him back but Derek did a deal with the rescue workers to use his camera lights and he was able to shoot the now-historic footage of cabinet minister Norman Tebbit being pulled from the debris.
He died in 2019.

Natalia Lach-Lachowicz, conocida como Natalia LL, fotógrafa, pintora, dibujante, artista de performance y video polaca nacida en 1937 en Żywiec.
En 1963 recibió su diploma de la Escuela Superior de Artes del Estado en Wrocław (actualmente Academia de Bellas Artes), donde estudió bajo la supervisión del profesor Stanisław Dawski. Un año más tarde se convirtió en miembro de ZPAF, la Asociación de Fotógrafos Artísticos de Polonia. Natalia Lach-Lachowicz, know as Natalia LL, Polish photographer, painter, draftswoman, performer and video artist, born in 1937 in Żywiec.
In 1963, she received her diploma from the State High School of Arts in Wrocław (currently the Academy of Fine Arts), where she studied under the supervision of Professor Stanisław Dawski. One year later she became a member of ZPAF, the Polish Art Photographers’ Association. From 1970 to 1981 she ran, together with Andrzej Lachowicz, Zbigniew Dłubak and Antoni Dzieduszycki, the PERMAFO Gallery, staging exhibitions and designing publications. Their activities largely contributed to the development of neo-avant-garde tendencies in Poland. Together with Andrzej Will and Andrzej Lachowicz, she organized the International Drawing Triennial, acting as its curator and vice-president.
In 1975, she joined the international feminist movement, participating in numerous symposiums and shows. In 1977, she went to New York as a Kościuszko Foundation grantee. In May 2007, she was awarded the Silver Medal for Merit to Culture – Gloria Artis, and in 2013 she received the Katarzyna Kobro Award, given by artists to artists. From 2004 to 2013 she worked as a senior lecturer at the Academy of Fine Arts in Poznań (currently University of the Arts Poznań). Her works are classified as conceptual art, photo art or body art. She works in painting, sculpture, installation, photography, video, performance and drawing.
She lives and works in Wrocław.

Yoshio Itagaki (板垣 由 雄), fotógrafo y fotomanipulador japonés nacido en 1967 en Nagoya.
Creció en Okazaki, Nara y Tokio, Japón y Bangkok, Tailandia, y actualmente vive y trabaja en la ciudad de Nueva York. Sus fotografías se han exhibido en Europa, Japón, México y los Estados Unidos, incluyendo varias muestras en Nueva York.

Yoshio Itagaki (板垣 由雄), Japanese photographer and photomanipulator born in 1967 in Nagoya.
He grew up in Okazaki, Nara and Tokyo, Japan and Bangkok, Thailand, and currently lives and works in New York City. His photographs have been exhibited in Europe, Japan, Mexico, and the U.S., including several shows in New York
Itagaki received a B.A. in Studio Art from Tama Art University (Tokyo, Japan) in 1991 and an M.A. in Studio Art from New York University in 1995. He also studied at the International Center of Photography (ICP) in 1997.
Itagaki deals with social, religious and technological issues. He has been a pioneer in digital photography and started using digital alteration as early as 1994.
Some of the series by Itagaki are Tourists on the Moon, Honeymoon Wedding, Traveling Games, Cyber Amish County, Native American Reservation on the Moon and Urban Legends.

Abrió su primer estudio en París en el 19 de la Avenue des Ternes, asociado al fotógrafo Marc Henri Fontès, que ya poseía otro estudio avenue de Clichy. Entre 1894 y 1913 realizó una obra de asombrosa diversidad y modernidad. Atraído por el deporte, se especializó en este campo y realizó muchos retratos de deportistas en todas las categorías, con una predilección por el ciclismo y las carreras de autos. En su libro "Visions du sport", publicado en 1989, el historiador y fotógrafo Jean-Claude Gautrand, que publica ocho fotografías de Jules Beau, cree que puede ser considerado "el primer reportero deportivo de la historia".

Joseph Jules Beau, French photographer born in 1864 in Paris. He was one of the first sports reporters.
He opened his first studio in Paris at 19, avenue des Ternes, associated with photographer Marc Henri Fontès who already had another studio avenue de Clichy. From 1894 to 1913, he produced a work of astonishing diversity and modernity. Attracted by the sport, he specialized in this field and shot many portraits of sportsmen in all categories, with a predilection for cycling and motor racing. In his book Visions du sport, published in 1989, the historian and photographer Jean-Claude Gautrand, who publishes eight photographs of Jules Beau, believes that he can be considered "the first sports reporter in history".
He collaborated in 1895 to the magazine La Bicyclette and from 1898 illustrated the sporting activity in La Vie au vent. He worked for a while as an archivist at the Touring Club de France. He ceased all activity after 1913.
He died in 1932.
