El 1 de Diciembre es el cumple de
Dean Lance O'Gorman, actor, artista y fotógrafo nacido en Nueva Zelanda en 1976. Es conocido por interpretar al enano Fili en la trilogía de "El Hobbit" y por interpretar a Anders en "The Almighty Johnsons". También es conocido por interpretar a Iolaus en Young Hercules.
A los 12 años fue descubierto por un agente de casting durante un concurso escolar de discursos. Su carrera como actor comenzó en 1995 con el papel principal en el romance adolescente Bonjour Timothy, una actuación que le valió una nominación a Mejor Actor en el Festival de Cine Giffoni.

At first glance, a viewer could believe that O'Gormans latest exhibition work was actually taken of American forces in the Vietnam War.
"They were beautiful images and I loved how they made me feel. I loved the rawness and the humanness they captured. I thought wouldn't it be cool to try and stage something that could allow you to potentially feel something similar, but wasn't actually real?
"I'm not trying to trick anybody, but I'm just trying to play with the idea of how you feel about something that is not real but is made to seem real? Movies do it all the time, but often within photography I find it's approached with quite an obvious parody or irony, I wanted to try to be more sincere."

Carl Friedrich Wilhelm Robert Visser, comerciante, fotógrafo y coleccionista de objetos etnográficos alemán nacido en 1860.
Robert Visser era el quinto de trece hijos en una familia católica de comerciantes y de marineros. Al terminar su educación, Robert quería ser capitán de barco. Se enroló en un buque de carga en Rotterdam. Las experiencias estresantes en el primer viaje entre los Países Bajos y Rusia lo desanimaron de seguir con esa profesión. En su lugar participó en una expedición científica a Brasil, pero no se sabe nada sobre el propósito, duración o curso de ese viaje. Fue activo en Cayo, Congo Francés, desde 1882 hasta por lo menos 1899, en Congo Free State en 1901, y en Chiloango, Congo Portugués, de 1902 a 1904. Por su cuenta, Visser fue uno de los primeros europeos en establecer el café y plantaciones de cacao en estas regiones.
Durante su residencia en África, reunió una buena cantidad de elementos etnográficos para los museos de Berlín, Leipzig y Stuttgart. Saul Leiter, fotógrafo y pintor estadounidense nacido en 1923, cuyo primer trabajo en los años cuarenta y cincuenta fue una importante contribución a la que llegó a ser conocida como la Escuela de fotografía de Nueva York. Su obra se encuentra en las colecciones de numerosas y prestigiosas colecciones públicas y privadas.

On December 1 is the birthday of
Dean Lance O'Gorman, actor, artist, and photographer born in New Zealand in 1976. He is known for playing the dwarf Fíli in the Hobbit trilogy and for playing Anders in The Almighty Johnsons. He is also known for playing Iolaus in Young Hercules.
At 12 years old, O'Gorman was discovered by a casting agent during a school speech competition. His acting career began in 1995 with the main role in teen romance Bonjour Timothy, a performance which earned him a nomination for Best Actor at the Giffoni Film Festival.
Subsequent roles included Mark in New Zealand drama When Love Comes and Johnny in Snakeskin, the latter of which received 5 awards at the 2001 New Zealand Film and Television Awards.
In April 2011, he was cast as the Dwarf Fili in Peter Jackson's three-part film adaptation of The Hobbit.
In addition to acting, O'Gorman is also a photographer and artist. In an interview with Tom Cardy, he confessed to a recession of his career in his first year in Los Angeles. He was almost broke, but was soon discovered by his friend's agent and thus began to receive more work, dividing his time between painting, photography and acting.
In 2012, he held his first exhibition at the Page Blackie Gallery in Wellington, New Zealand between 19–23 June. The theme of the exhibition focused on the Vietnam War, something he felt conveyed a great deal of humanity. In order to obtain accuracy in his work, O'Gorman sought the advice of a New Zealand Vietnam veteran. Preferring to dress and set up shoots himself, the models for this gallery included other cast members from The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and The Almighty Johnsons. O'Gorman's photographs were displayed at the 2015 Berlin B3 Biennial.

Carl Friedrich Wilhelm Robert Visser, German merchant, photographer and collector of ethnographica born in 1860.
Robert Visser was the fifth of thirteen children in a Catholic family of merchants and seamen. Upon completing his education, Robert wanted to be a ship's captain. He signed up on a freight steamship in Rotterdam. Stressful experiences on the first trip between the Netherlands and Russia discouraged him pursuing that profession. Instead he took part in a scientific expedition to Brazil, but nothing is known about the purpose, length, or course of that trip. From 1882 to 1904 he was employed as a plantation manager in Africa by the Dutch trading company Nieuwe Afrikaansche Handelsvennootschap. He was active in Cayo, French Congo, from 1882 to at least 1899, in Congo Free State in 1901, and in Chiloango, Portuguese Congo, from 1902 to 1904. By his own account, Visser was one of the first Europeans to establish coffee and cocoa plantations in these regions.
During his residence in Africa he collected a plenitude of ethnographica for the ethnographical museums in Berlin, Leipzig, and Stuttgart. Visser's name is linked primarily with Kongo "fetishes" (minkisi, or power figures; sing. nkisi) that are now in various American (the Art Institute of Chicago, the Detroit Institute of Arts) and German collections. Visser was not only a dedicated collector of ethnographica but also an avid photographer.
He died in 1937.
On December 3 is the birthday of
Saul Leiter, American photographer and painter born in 1923, whose early work in the 1940s and 1950s was an important contribution to what came to be recognized as the New York school of photography. His work is in the collections of many prestigious public and private collections.
His mother gave him his first camera at age 12. At age 23, he left theology school and moved to New York City to become an artist. He had developed an early interest in painting and was fortunate to meet the Abstract Expressionist painter Richard Pousette-Dart.
Pousette-Dart and W. Eugene Smith encouraged Leiter to pursue photography and he was soon taking black and white pictures with a 35 mm Leica, which he acquired for a few Eugene Smith prints. In 1948, he started taking color photographs. He began associating with other contemporary photographers such as Robert Frank and Diane Arbus and helped form what Jane Livingston has termed the New York School of photographers during the 1940s and 1950s.
Leiter worked as a fashion photographer for the next 20 years and was published in Show, Elle, British Vogue, Queen, and Nova. In the late 1950s the art director Henry Wolf published Leiter’s color fashion work in Esquire and later in Harper’s Bazaar.
Edward Steichen included Leiter’s black and white photographs in the exhibition Always the Young Stranger at the Museum of Modern Art in 1953. Leiter’s work is featured prominently in Jane Livingston’s book The New York School (1992) and in Martin Harrison’s Appearances: Fashion Photography since 1945 (1991). In 2008, The Foundation Henri Cartier-Bresson in Paris mounted Leiter’s first museum exhibition in Europe with an accompanying catalog.
Leiter died in 2013.
Today, December 4, is the birthday of
Natalia Evelyn Benčičová young visual artist born in 1992 in Bratislava, Slovakia.
She studied photography and fine art in the University of Applied Arts, Vienna, Austria. Since 2014 she lives and works in Germany.
In her work she's trying to pursue a point in which commercial and artistic meet, focusing on conceptual as well as visual aspect of photography.
It is important for her to combine academic knowledge, interesting aesthetics, strong message and active communication with the audience.
She works with photography since 2012 using Canon 5D Mark II.
