Murió en Überlingen in 2004.

On August 21 is the birthday of

Walter Frentz, German cameraman, film producer and photographer born in 1907 in Heilbronn, considerably involved in the picture propaganda of Nazi Germany.
He entered the Technical University of Munich and graduated as an electrical engineer in 1927. He specialized in cinematography with a very personal and artistic shooting style that caught the attention of Hitler's then architect, Albert Speer, whom he had met in 1929. He put him in contact with filmmaker Leni Riefenstahl in 1933, when Frentz was working for the UFA, and she made him his main cameraman because his subjective shooting style seemed to him to have a great artistic sense. He worked side by side as chief cameraman with the famous Nazi propaganda filmmaker on her most important achievements: The triumph of the will and Olympia. At the same time, he carried out cultural works for the Ministry of Propaganda directed by Joseph Goebbels.

In 1939 he accompanied Hitler as an official cameraman on his visit to Austria after the Anschluss, taking pictures of his "triumphal visit" in his official vehicle. Having finished his work in Austria, he received a position as a war reporter and was attempted to enroll in the SS, which Frentz kindly refused, was therefore assimilated into the Air Ministry in 1939 working under the directives of Hitler and Göring. Frentz attained the rank of reserve lieutenant of the Luftwaffe.

With Albert Speer as Minister of Armament, he was able to film scenes in the Dora Mittelbau concentration camp where the V-2 rocket project was being rehearsed. There he recorded the suffering of the slave workers working on the project. Also from 1944, Frentz filmed the destruction of German cities by the Allied bombing, and on March 20, 1945, he made Hitler's last film session in his lifetime, reviewing child soldiers in the Chancellery courtyard.
On April 24, 1945, Frentz left Berlin and took refuge in Obersalzberg where he was captured by the Americans. As a civilian, Frentz was only arrested a couple of times for questioning and was not included in any trial as his work was considered purely professional.
He died at Überlingen in 2004.

On August 22 is the birthday of

Nico Adriaan Jesse, Dutch humanist photographer and photojournalist born in 1911 in Rotterdam, later a commercial and advertising photographer.
Originally a physician, he combined his work as a doctor with his passion for photography until, in 1955, he gave up his medical practice to devote himself exclusively to photography, producing imagery for several companies’ annual reports and business documents. He also made a large number of books about cities and countries in Europe and mounted exhibitions of the images, the most famous being Women of Paris (1954).

Jesse received his medical internship in 1937. Meanwhile, he was accepted for participation in the 1937 exhibition of photography at the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam. The following year Jesse continued in a co-assistant position at the University Hospital in Utrecht, passing his semi-final medical examination. He lived with his wife Ro for three months in the Montparnasse district of Paris, and on return worked as general practitioner.

During the Nazi occupation of the Netherlands Jesse was commissioned by Utrecht municipality archivist JWC van Campen to carry out a visual documentation of life in that city. He made 400 black and white photos and 136 colour slides which, with the more than 1,000 colour slides by Alphons Hunstinx (Dutch Institute for War Documentation), is the largest collection of colour images in which the daily life of a Dutch city is documented during the occupation. The destruction of Rotterdam in May 1940, and the strategic importance of Utrecht as a railway junction and industrial zone provided the impetus, and Jesse carried out the photography in the winter and summer of 1942, incidentally capturing the imposed anti-Semitism. In 1962 Nico Jesse took up his original profession again and at his death in 1976, left a large photographic oeuvre, in which people and their everyday activities are the focus.
