El 7 de Julio es el cumple de
Ana Lizette Abraham Palma, fotógrafa y artista de performances mexicana, nacida en 1982 en Mérida, Yucatán.
Licenciada en ciencias de la comunicación con una Maestría en diseño ha estudiado diversos diplomados y talleres en arte multidisciplinario en el CENART de San Luís Potosí. Actualmente reside en la Ciudad de México, donde se enfoca en trabajar la fotografía. Realiza imágenes basadas en temas de genero y en problemáticas sociales de su país. En su obra, desarrolla una estética particular de fotografía de autor, explorando con diversos procesos creativos.

A la par de su que hacer fotográfico, Lizette se ha dedicado a la realización de performances desde el año 2000. Desde hace seis años ha trabajado con la tela como material principal para la construcción de sus ideas. En este tiempo ha ido explorado el diseño de personajes, de objetos, de paisajes y escenarios realizados con fotomontaje, así como maquetas a gran escala.
Su trabajo actual, fue seleccionado por el Fondo Nacional de Jóvenes Creadores FONCA 2018 y fue ganadora del premio especial Canon en el “Tercer Concurso de Fotografía Contemporánea” de México, FUMCA en 2017. En el año 2016 Lizette obtuvo el primer lugar en el Festival Internacional de la Imagen FINI, en la categoría técnicas alternativas profesionales y fue seleccionada en la “Bienal de Fotografía Construida de Bogotá” 2015. Las imágenes de Lizette participaron en la “Feria Art Basel Miami” 2014, y en el año 2012 se hizo acreedora a una mención honorífica en la Primera Bienal Héctor García. CDMX.

Su trayectoria comprende trece exposiciones individuales y más de sesenta colectivas en galerías, museos y centros culturales en varias ciudades. Ha realizado más de ochenta performances individuales y colectivas en diferentes partes de México. Su obra visual ha sido publicada en las portadas de libros y revistas digitales e impresas.

«Las Grayas, eran seres mitológicos, mujeres que compartían un solo ojo. Estos seres eran las guardianas de la entrada para llegar a Medusa, según cuenta en la historia de Perseo. En esta serie quise realizar mi versión sobre estos personajes muy poco conocidos. Para mi, las Grayas representan el poder femenino el cual se fundamenta en la alianzas con otras mujeres, la metáfora de compartir un solo ojo es muy poderosa. En la actualidad si las mujeres se unen pasa algo parecido comparten una visión única que nos hace mas fuertes, y más capaces.»

She has a degree in Communication Sciences with MA in Design, and has studied several diplomas and workshops in multidisciplinary art at the San Luis Potosí CENART. She currently resides in Mexico City, where she focuses on working with photography. She make images based on gender issues and social issues in her country. In his work, she develops a particular aesthetics of author photography, exploring with diverse creative processes.

Along with her photographic work, Lizette has been dedicated to performance art since 2000. For six years she has worked with fabric as the main material for the construction of her ideas. In this time she has explored the design of characters, objects, landscapes and scenarios made with photomontage, as well as large scale models.
Her current work was selected by the National Fund of Young Creators FONCA 2018 and was the winner of the special Canon prize in the "Third Contemporary Photography Contest" in Mexico, FUMCA in 2017. In 2016 Lizette obtained the first place in the International Festival of the Image FINI, in the category of alternative professional techniques and was selected in the "Biennial of Constructed Photography of Bogotá" 2015. The images of Lizette participated in the "Art Basel Fair Miami" 2014, and in the year 2012 became creditor to an honorable mention in the First Hector García Biennial. CDMX.

Her career includes thirteen individual exhibitions and more than sixty collective exhibitions in galleries, museums and cultural centers in several cities. She has made more than eighty individual and collective performances in different parts of Mexico. Her visual work has been published on the covers of digital and printed books and magazines.

«The Graeae were mythological beings, women who shared a single eye These beings were the guardians of the entrance to reach Medusa, according to the story of Perseus. In this series I wanted to make my version about these little known characters. For me, the Graeae represent female power which is based on alliances with other women, the metaphor of sharing a single eye is very powerful. Nowadays, if women come together something similar happens, they share a unique vision that makes us stronger and more capable.»

Ted Allan (Theos Alwyn Dunagan), fotógrafo estadounidense nacido en 1910 en Clifton, Arizona. Era un fotógrafo muy popular de Hollywood conocido como "Rembrandt" en la Metro Goldwyn Mayer y apodado "Farley Focus" por Frank Sinatra. Allan cambió su nombre durante una breve aventura en la actuación.
Siendo aún adolescente, mejoró las fotografías de las estrellas con pintura al óleo para exhibirlas en los vestíbulos de los teatros. La experiencia se quedó con él, y años más tarde, las estrellas elogiaron su capacidad para retocar sus imágenes. Allan se movió rápidamente detrás de la cámara fotográfica cuando estableció su propio estudio de retratos en Hollywood en 1933. Más tarde trabajó para los estudios MGM, CBS Radio (tomando fotos publicitarias para el "Lux Radio Theatre" de Cecil B. DeMille), la televisión ABC y varias producciones cinematográficas, incluyendo "The Sand Pebbles" y "Von Ryan's Express".

A lo largo de los años, fotografió a estrellas como Jean Harlow, Clark Gable, Carole Lombard, James Stewart, Spencer Tracy, Shirley Temple, Helen Hayes y John, Ethel y Lionel Barrymore. Allan, según una entrada del catálogo durante un espectáculo en 1987 en el Museo de Arte del Condado de Los Ángeles, "se adhirió al mandato del fotógrafo de retratos, de convertir a hombres y mujeres en objetos de fantasía ... con poses y luces dramáticas ... y retoques."
Su trabajo también se ha exhibido en el Museo de Arte Moderno de Nueva York, en la Galería Nacional de Arte de Washington, y en Londres y Venecia, Italia.
Murió en 1993.

As a teen-ager, he enhanced stars' photographs with oil paint for display in theater lobbies. The experience stuck with him, and years later stars praised his ability to retouch their images. Allan quickly moved behind the still camera when he established his own portrait studio in Hollywood in 1933. He later worked for MGM studios, CBS Radio (taking publicity photos for Cecil B. DeMille's "Lux Radio Theatre"), ABC television and several film productions, including "The Sand Pebbles" and "Von Ryan's Express."

Over the years he photographed such stars as Jean Harlow, Clark Gable, Carole Lombard, James Stewart, Spencer Tracy, Shirley Temple, Helen Hayes, and John, Ethel and Lionel Barrymore. Allan, according to a catalogue entry during a 1987 show at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, "adhered to the portrait photographer's mandate, to make mere men and women into objects of fantasy . . . with poses and dramatic lighting . . . and retouching."
His work has also been exhibited at the New York Museum of Modern Art, the National Gallery of Art in Washington, and in London and Venice, Italy.
He died in 1993.

Comenzando en Oregon en 1937 y hasta que murió en 1976, White tomó miles de fotografías en blanco y negro y en color de paisajes, gente y temas abstractos, creadas con maestría técnica y un intenso sentido visual de luces y sombras. Enseñó en muchas clases, talleres y retiros de fotografía en la Escuela de Bellas Artes de California, el Instituto Tecnológico de Rochester, el Instituto de Tecnología de Massachusetts, en otras escuelas y en su propia casa.

Siendo gay, vivió gran parte de su vida secretamente, con miedo a expresarse en público por temor a la pérdida de sus puestos de trabajo docente, y algunas de sus imágenes más convincentes son estudios de figuras de hombres a los que enseñaba, o con los que tuvo relaciones. Él ayudó a iniciar y durante muchos años fue editor de la revista de fotografía Apertura.
Después de su muerte en 1976, White fue aclamado como uno de los más grandes fotógrafos de Estados Unidos.

Minor Martin White, American photographer, theoretician, critic and educator born in 1908. He combined an intense interest in how people viewed and understood photographs with a personal vision that was guided by a variety of spiritual and intellectual philosophies.

Starting in Oregon in 1937 and continuing until he died in 1976, White took thousands of black-and-white and color photographs of landscapes, people and abstract subject matter, created with both technical mastery and a strong visual sense of light and shadow. He taught many classes, workshops and retreats on photography at the California School of Fine Arts, Rochester Institute of Technology, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, other schools, and in his own home.

He lived much of his life as a closeted gay man, afraid to express himself publicly for fear of loss of his teaching jobs, and some of his most compelling images are figure studies of men whom he taught or with whom he had relationships. He helped start and for many years was editor of the photography magazine Aperture.
After his death in 1976, White was hailed as one of America's greatest photographers.

George Charles Beresford, fotógrafo de estudio británico nacido en 1864 en Drumlease, Dromahair, Condado de Leitrim.
Miembro de la familia Beresford encabezada por el Marqués de Waterford y tercero de los cinco hijos del comandante Henry Marcus Beresford (1835–1895) y Julia Ellen Maunsell (fallecida en 1923).
Beresford fue enviado a Westward Ho! En 1877 asistió a la United Services College. Al partir, en 1882, se matriculó en el Royal Indian Engineering College en Cooper's Hill, y de allí fue a la India en 1882 como ingeniero civil en el Departamento de Obras Públicas. Después de cuatro años contrajo malaria y regresó a Inglaterra para estudiar arte, llegando a exponer en la Royal Academy.

Entre 1902 y 1932 trabajó en un estudio en Knightsbridge, en el 20 Yeoman's Row, Brompton Road. Aquí produjo retratos en platinotipo de escritores, artistas y políticos que fueron celebridades de la época. Sus imágenes fueron utilizadas en publicaciones como The World's Work, The Sketch, The Tatler y The Illustrated London News. Hizo importantes donaciones a la Cruz Roja en la Primera Guerra Mundial. En sus últimos años se convirtió en un comerciante de antigüedades. En 1943 National Portrait Gallery adquirió algunos de sus negativos y grabados de su antiguo secretario.

Beresford era amigo íntimo de Augustus John y Sir William Orpen, otro irlandés, que produjeron varias imágenes entre sí. El personaje de Kipling M'Turk en la novela "Stalky & Co.", se basó en Beresford, cuya autobiografía "Días de colegio con Kipling / Schooldays with Kipling" apareció en 1936.
Murió en 1938.

On July 10 is the birthday of
George Charles Beresford, British studio photographer, born in 1864 in Drumlease, Dromahair, County Leitrim.
A member of the Beresford family headed by the Marquess of Waterford and the third of five children, he was the son of Major Henry Marcus Beresford (1835–1895) and Julia Ellen Maunsell (d. 1923).

Beresford was sent to Westward Ho! in 1877 and attended the United Services College. On leaving in 1882 he enrolled at the Royal Indian Engineering College at Cooper's Hill, and from there went to India in 1882 as a civil engineer in the Public Works Department. After four years he contracted malaria and returned to England to study art, eventually exhibiting at the Royal Academy.
Between 1902 and 1932 he worked from a studio in Knightsbridge at 20 Yeoman's Row, Brompton Road. Here he produced platinotype portraits of writers, artists and politicians who were celebrities of the time. His images were used in publications such as The World's Work, The Sketch, The Tatler and The Illustrated London News. He donated substantially to the Red Cross in World War I. In his later years he became an antique dealer. In 1943 the National Portrait Gallery acquired some of his negatives and prints from his former secretary.

Beresford was a close friend of Augustus John and Sir William Orpen, another Irishman – they produced a number of images of each other. Kipling's character M'Turk in the novel Stalky & Co. was based on Beresford, whose autobiography Schooldays with Kipling appeared in 1936.
He died in 1938.
