Antonio Segura Donat, "Dulk", es un artista valenciano nacido en Ontinyent en 1983.
De niño ayudaba a su padre a alimentar las aves que criaban en su casa. Le encantaba observar a los polluelos y verlos crecer, así como a los peces, perros y caballos que vivían en la propiedad. Cuando no estaba fuera, copiaba ilustraciones de animales exóticos que encontraba en la colección de enciclopedias antiguas de sus padres. A partir de entonces, llevaba su cuaderno de dibujo a todas partes. A los dieciocho años, un amigo íntimo le convenció para largarse fuera de la ciudad y le sugirió que adoptara el seudónimo de Dulk.

Artconvex, Hong Kong (HK)
Estudió ilustración en la Escuela de Arte y Diseño de Alcoy (2002-05) y diseño gráfico en la Escuela de Arte y Diseño de Valencia (2006-09). Estuvo un tiempo en Bruselas (St Lukas School of Art, 2010), donde llegó gracias al programa Erasmus. A su regreso estuvo realizando trabajos relacionados con la moda y desarrollo gráfico para películas de animación en Barcelona.
El graffiti y el mural urbano lo ha acompañado durante todo ese tiempo, y gracias a estas disciplinas fue desarrollando su estilo personal.
En paralelo a su actividad en Barcelona, continuó trabajando en su obra propia, pintando, presentando sus obras en exposiciones, y por fin dejó su trabajo en Barcelona, y regresó a su pueblo para trabajar freelance en ilustración y diseño gráfico, centrándose cada vez más en sus propias pinturas y esculturas.

Antonio se inspira en su vida diaria y en la naturaleza. Los viajes son una fuente importante de ideas y estímulos creativos. Visita áreas donde la naturaleza tiene un papel preponderante, y toma fotografías que luego servirán como guión para su trabajo de estudio.
Sus obras están pobladas por infinidad de seres y elementos, y deslumbran con un intenso colorido.
"Intento crear obras donde yo sé lo que quiero decir, pero que dejan un camino abierto a la gente para reinterpretarlas. Esto me gusta mucho cuando pasa, sobre todo con los murales, que están en la calle. Las obras de estudio al final van a la galería, pero en la calle, que todo el mundo lo ve, cuando lo estoy haciendo mucha gente me dice: '¿Qué está pasando aquí?', y se quedan pensando e investigando, y eso me parece superchulo."

Casi sin proponérselo, la temática de su obra ha ido derivando hacia el interés por los problemas medioambientales, la vida silvestre en peligro de extinción. "Los animales me han encantado desde pequeño. Siempre he dibujado animales. Me gusta estudiar las diferentes morfologías que tienen, y como se relacionan entre sí. Y además de pintarlos me intereso mucho por lo que pasa en su vida real, sus comportamientos, sobre todo por cómo está el tema hoy en día, que estamos acabando con todo."

El impacto visual de sus obras atrapa la atención del espectador, pero una vez conseguido esto, una observación atenta permite descubrir que lo que allí está pasando no es tan bonito. Hay una visión constantemente crítica respecto a las cuestiones medioambientales y el impacto del ser humano.
"El arte es, en sí mismo, una forma de expresión que te invita a reflexionar. Con él se pueden cambiar muchas cosas. La pintura mural ayuda en esto. Un cuadro lo dejas en la galería y sólo lo ven los coleccionistas. El mural tiene una fuerza muy potente. Todo el mundo lo ve. Es una buena manera de concienciar. Aún me gusta así, no me gusta hacer campaña contra los problemas medioambientales, sino dejar el mensaje abierto para que cada uno interprete e imagine."

La obra de Antonio está representada en Estados Unidos por la Galería Thinkspace (Los Ángeles), y sus murales pueden verse por todo el mundo, desde Los Ángeles, Londres y Shangai, hasta Luxemburgo o Hawaii. En 2017 publicó su libro recopilatorio "The Dulk".

Antonio Segura Donat aka "Dulk", is a Valencian artist born in Ontinyent in 1983.
As a child, Antonio helped his father to feed the birds they reared at their home. He loved watching the fledglings and seeing them grow, as well as the fish, dogs, and horses that lived on the property. When he wasn’t out and about, he copied illustrations of exotic animals that he found in his parents’ collection of old encyclopedias. And he took his sketchbook with him everywhere from then on. At the age of eighteen, a close friend persuaded him to tackle the walls of the city and suggested he take the pseudonym of Dulk.

«Este [cuadro] es uno de los primeros que guardaré para mi colección personal. Se basa en una foto que tomé de un rinoceronte negro viejo en Ol Pejeta Conservancy, reserva nacional en Kenia. Ese momento fue muy especial, y me costó mucho tiempo y esfuerzo verlos en la naturaleza por primera vez así que decidí guardarla para mí.»
«This [painting] one is one of the first that I’ll keep for my personal collection. It’s based in a picture I took of an old black rhino photographed in Ol Pejeta Conservancy, National Reserve in Kenya. That moment was so special and it took me lot of time and effort to see them in the wild for the first time so I decided to keep it for me.»

He studied illustration at the School of Art and Design of Alcoy (2002-05) and graphic design at the School of Art and Design of Valencia (2006-09). He spent some time in Brussels (St Lukas School of Art, 2010), where he arrived thanks to the Erasmus program. Upon his return he was doing work related to fashion and graphic development for animated films in Barcelona.
Graffiti and urban mural has accompanied him during all this time, and thanks to these disciplines he developed his personal style.
In parallel to his activity in Barcelona, he continued working on his own work, painting, presenting his work in exhibitions, and finally left his work in Barcelona, and returned to his hometown to work freelance in illustration and graphic design, focusing more and more on his own paintings and sculptures.

Antonio draws inspiration from his daily life and from nature. Travel is an important source of ideas and creative stimuli. He visits areas where nature plays a predominant role, and takes photographs that will later serve as a script for his studio work.
His works are populated by an infinity of beings and elements, and dazzle with an intense colorfulness.
"I try to create works where I know what I want to say, but that leave an open way for people to reinterpret them. I really like this when it happens, especially with the murals, which are on the street. The studio works eventually go to the gallery, but in the street, everyone sees it. When I'm doing it a lot of people say to me, 'What's going on here,' and they're left thinking and investigating, and I find that super cool."

Almost without intending to, the subject matter of his work has been drifting towards an interest in environmental problems, wildlife in danger of extinction. "Animals have enchanted me since I was a child. I have always drawn animals. I like to study the different morphologies they have, and how they relate to each other. And besides painting them I'm very interested in what happens in their real life, their behaviors, especially how the issue is nowadays, that we are destroying everything."

The visual impact of his works catches the viewer's attention, but once this is achieved, close observation reveals that what is happening there is not so beautiful. There is a constantly critical view regarding environmental issues and the impact of human beings.
"Art is, in itself, a form of expression that invites you to reflect. With it you can change many things. Mural painting helps in this. You leave a painting in the gallery and only collectors see it. The mural has a very powerful force. Everyone sees it. It's a good way to raise awareness. I still like it that way, I don't like to campaign against environmental problems, but to leave the message open for everyone to interpret and imagine."

«Siempre me encanta convertir mis personajes en 3D y esta vez quería rendir homenaje a Sudán, el último rinoceronte blanco del norte macho que falleció en 2018 en la reserva Ol Pejeta Conservancy en Kenia. La extinción del último rinoceronte macho de esta subespecie se produjo hace apenas 3 años y es algo que no podemos dejar que se repita.»

«I always love turning my characters in 3D and this time I would like to pay tribute to Sudan, the last male northen white rhino that passed away in 2018 at Ol Pejeta Conservancy in Kenya. The extinction of the last male rhino of this subspecies occurred just 3 years ago and it’s something that we can’t let happen again.»

Los Ilustrados de Ornamante (LIO) 2015.
Ornamante (Francisco Aguilera y Xavier Ferrer), son una pareja de artista barceloneses que crean bípedos animales humanizados en cerámica. Sobre Ceferino dicen:
"Es un rinoceronte humanizado. Posee un 82 % de ADN animal y un 18 % de ADN humano. Camina sobre sus dos robustas patas traseras, puede correr largas distancias, de manera ágil y rápida. Tiene un punto agresivo, chulo, prepotente y algo déspota, pero aunque se haga el duro en el fondo es un tierno. Entre sus aficiones está el boxeo, las carreras ilegales de coches, salir de fiesta con los amigos y la comida casera y tradicional en especial los callos con chorizo. Es portero de discoteca los fines de semana, trabajo que alterna con el de monitor de sala en un gimnasio municipal. Cambia de novia como de camisa y todavía no se plantea un futuro estable ya que vive muy a gusto en casa de sus padres. Le encantaría tener un descapotable y vivir la vida loca."
Ornamante (Francisco Aguilera and Xavier Ferrer), are a couple of artists from Barcelona who create humanized bipedal animals in ceramics. About Ceferino, they said:
"Is a humanized rhinoceros. It has 82% animal DNA and 18% human DNA. He walks on his two sturdy hind legs, can run long distances, agile and fast. He has an aggressive, cocky, arrogant and somewhat despot point, but although he pretends to be tough, deep down he is tender. Among his hobbies are boxing, illegal car racing, partying with friends and traditional homemade food, especially tripe with chorizo. He is a nightclub bouncer on weekends, a job he alternates with being a gym instructor in a municipal gym. He changes girlfriends like a shirt and still does not consider a stable future since he lives very comfortably at home with his parents. He would love to have a convertible and live the crazy life."
