Un año más del blog, en tiempos en que el propio concepto de blog ya ha quedando obsoleto para muchos navegantes de la red. La inmediatez en el consumo de la información a través de las redes sociales ha hecho que los contenidos más ricos y densos, que exigen una lectura pausada y una digestión tranquila de la información hayan pasado a otro plano. Por suerte (se le atribuye a Mark Twain aquello de que "la historia nunca se repite, pero a menudo rima") hay nuevas oleadas de vuelta a lo "tradicional", por decirlo de alguna manera, y es posible encontrar (siempre lo fue, pero las modas son lo que son) contenidos profundos y elaborados en todo el espectro de la información, ya sea por ejemplo el análisis político, la crítica, las entrevistas, y también lo que nos ocupa, que es el arte en su acepción más amplia. Si bien muchos de los posts que habitualmente publico son recopilaciones de imágenes, sigo procurando que la información complementaria sea lo más completa y precisa posible y que los monográficos ofrezcan abundante material biográfico y contextual. Por su parte, las extensas entrevistas realizadas por Shirley ponen a nuestra disposición una valiosa fuente para el conocimiento general de los perfiles, intereses, evolución artística y circunstancias vitales de los artistas presentados, muchos de los cuales cuentan con escasa difusión, ya sea por su carácter novel o por su circunscripción al ámbito local. La apuesta, en todo caso, es seguir el rumbo.
La cantidad de artículos ha sido modesta en relación a la producción presentada en años previos, pero la calidad (espero) no ha disminuido, y tampoco el número de artistas, aunque con menos monográficos y más concentración en posts temáticos corales.
Shirley Rebuffo ha sido la protagonista del 2023, y en concreto su investigación sobre los libros de artista, una vertiente con escasa presencia, al menos en relación a las formas artísticas habituales, pero que ofrece un amplio abanico de posibilidades abarcando infinidad de técnicas, soportes, formatos, materiales y recursos expresivos. Los artistas rioplatenses han predominado debido a la proximidad social y geográfica del ámbito en que se mueve Shirley, aunque también hemos salpicado con algunos de otras procedencias.
El propósito para este nuevo año es, como siempre, mantenernos, y dependiendo de las circunstancias aumentar la productividad para presentar más material con el cual seguir disfrutando de la creatividad humana expresada a través de las diferentes disciplinas artísticas, y conocer un poco más a quienes nos entregan lo mejor de sí en forma de obras arte de todo tipo.
Como cada año, nuestro agradecimiento a quienes nos siguen, comentan, aportan y disfrutan con los contenidos presentados, y nuestros deseos de un excelente 2024, lo cual puede resultar un poco ambicioso teniendo en cuenta el estado del planeta y la humanidad en estos momentos, pero, como bien sabemos, si en algún momento tocamos fondo (si es que no ha sucedido ya), una de dos, o ya no habrá nada que hacer, o sólo nos quedará empezar a remontar. Que así sea.

Another year of blogging, in times when the very concept of the blog has become obsolete for many web surfers. The immediacy in the consumption of information through social networks has meant that the richer and denser contents, which require a leisurely reading and a quiet digestion of information have passed to another plane. Fortunately (Mark Twain is credited with saying that "history never repeats itself, but it does often rhyme") there are new waves of return to the "traditional", so to speak, and it is possible to find (it always was, but fashions are what they are) deep and elaborate content across the spectrum of information, whether for example political analysis, criticism, interviews, and also what concerns us, which is art in its broadest sense. Although many of the posts I usually publish are compilations of images, I still try to ensure that the complementary information is as complete and precise as possible and that the monographs offer abundant biographical and contextual material. For their part, the extensive interviews conducted by Shirley provide us with a valuable source for the general knowledge of the profiles, interests, artistic evolution and life circumstances of the artists presented, many of whom have little diffusion, either because of their novel character or because they are limited to the local sphere. The bet, in any case, is to stay the course.
The quantity of articles has been modest in relation to the production presented in previous years, but the quality (I hope) has not diminished, and neither has the number of artists, although with fewer monographs and more concentration on choral thematic posts.
Shirley Rebuffo has been the protagonist of 2023, and specifically her research on artist's books, an aspect with scarce presence, at least in relation to the usual artistic forms, but which offers a wide range of possibilities covering an infinite number of techniques, supports, formats, materials and expressive resources. Rio de la Plata artists have predominated due to the social and geographic proximity of the environment in which Shirley moves, although we have also sprinkled with some from other origins.
The purpose for this new year is, as always, to maintain, and depending on the circumstances, increase productivity to present more material with which to continue enjoying human creativity expressed through different artistic disciplines, and to get to know a little more those who give us the best of themselves in the form of works of art of all kinds.
As every year, our thanks to those who follow us, comment, contribute and enjoy the contents presented, and our wishes for an excellent 2024, which may be a bit ambitious considering the state of the planet and humanity at this time, but, as we well know, if at some point we hit bottom (if it has not already happened), one of two things, or there will be nothing left to do, or we will only have to start going up again. May it be so.
